It’s called wisdom...experience...lessons learned. You gain those things as you grow older. Nothing kids do now is new. The only new aspect to the dumb shit they do is airing it on social media. When an older person is giving you sound advise it’s best to listen, because either that person has been in the same situation or have seen others go through it.

The reason people in my community tend to look up to to O.Gs is because it gives this feeling of awe that someone that is from the hood like you can gain such a level of respect. It is more of a sense of living vicariously through another individual. Another person from my community that has not grown up in a hood might not understand the respect given to O.Gs as they cannot really relate the sense of respect and desire for success that one wants when they live in an impoverished environment. It is one of those paradoxes of the human mind that when you grew up and leave the hood, you realise the dangerous mentality you had when you are younger.
