Try to unlink it, then use the two channels in serial mode (one into the other)... Set up one with fast settings and the next on a slower setting (or visa versa)... You can use it the "same way" as an 1176 into a LA-2A. This works great on vocals :-)
I had a TKlizer for a few years. Decent sounding box but the switches started failing way sooner than other pieces in my studio. They got noisy, sticky. I was disappointed and traded it for a higher quality EQ. Hopefully this issue was either a one-off or that's been addressed. I'm reluctant to purchase anything else now.
Sorry to hear about your TK-lizer problem, wish you contacted us and we would have tried to help you getting it fixed. We have used tens of thousands of this switch type over the years and only heard about a few bad ones. We have two years of warranty on our products and we always trying to help out if possible even if the unit is out of warranty.
