Joe Cocker was an English singer known for his gritty, bluesy voice & dynamic stage performances that featured expressive body movements. He recorded a few Beatles' songs "With A Little Help From My Friends", "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" & "Something". Other hits were "Up Where We Belong" (a duet with Jennifer Warnes), "Delta Lady", "Darling Be Home Soon", "Cry Me A River", "Feelin' Alright", "The Letter", "You Are So Beautiful" etc.

"With A Little Help From My Friends" was originally written and recorded by the Beatles. It was from their classic Sergeant Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album. Joe Cocker's version is slower and more soulful. Both are great. I'm surprised you chose to react to the studio recording. One of the highlights of the legendary Woodstock Festival in 1969 was Joe Cocker singing this song live and I know you both especially enjoy live performances. So, I highly recommend you check out the Beatles recording and Joe Cocker singing at Woodstock.

Joe took this from a bouncy, upbeat song sung by Ringo and turned it into a blues classic. You also need to hear his version of The Letter(originally done by a group named The Boxtops).I believe Paul Mc Cartney said after hearing it that this is Joe's song now

Joe Cocker is a genius of interpretation of other writers' song material and making it his own. I was lucky to hear this song live from him twice in my life and it was most incredible both times. As one person put it to me "He sings the way only a very generous man can sing". R.I.P. Joe, you and your generosity of heart, that shone through your performance. are sorely missed in this world.

Just love 😍😍🥰🥰you two !!! Great reaction ... nothing else to add, uh, well ... other than you should really listen to some of his songs from the Mad Dogs & Englishmen album. Joe had finished a tour, and all his musicians were off on leave when he got the call to do the MD&E tour, so he called as many of his musician friends as he could and asked them to help out. So, he got the best of the best ... Leon Russel (band leader, guitar, piano, etc.), Rita Coolidge (his girlfriend at the time), Nicole Barclay, Claudia Linnear, tons of people from the famous The Wrecking Crew (roving band of studio musicians that played on just about everyone's studio albums back then), etc. It is a killer album. Some songs of particular note (and that were out of this world) are She Came In Through The Bathroom Window (another Beatles song), The Letter (i.e. Give me a ticket for an aeroplane ...), Honky Tonk Women (Rolling Stones song), Cry Me A River, Feelin' Alright, Space Captain, Delta Lady and my personal favorite, Let's Go Get Stoned (not necessarily a drug song, as he seems to suggest alcohol).

Great reaction to this Beatles classic as made his own by the great Joe Cocker (RIP). When you do get around to listening to the original version be sure to listen to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club band first, as that song leads directly into this one without pause. Peace!!

This studio version take this faster than the Woodstock live performance. If you heard the live Woodstock version first, you would think they are rushing through it when you here this. Cocker changed the 4/4 swing beat happy happy time Ringo Starr sang on the the Sergeant Peppers album [1967] to what I would call 6/8 time blues feel and turned it into a classic...that represented the "Woodstock generation" of over 300,000 people crammed into the world's first outdoor mega rock and folk concert.

Couple of things, you have to give the Woodstock video of this a look.....it's ridiculous! in a good way. Also Joe's version of "little Help" is NOTHING like the original about the only thing similar are the lyrics, along with what Dagmar posted he also covered "You've got to hide your love away" which is also faboo....a few other Cocker songs to try "Unbreak my heart", "Night Calls" and "Now That The Magic Has Gone" (have a tissue ready for that one! in fact the whole of the "Night Calls" album is brilliant 😀😀😀

Well done ladies for reacting to the studio version 👍 Joe Cocker live is amazing but all the live versions miss out on the superb backing (vocals and instrumentation). There's a bit of a tease in your video as I thought you were going to react to The Beatles version as well. The contrast would have been great to watch. No need to choose between them though. Both of them are great and the Beatles version works superbly in the context of "Sgt. Pepper". BTW ladies, another track from this album "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" is (IMHO) the best version of this song in a very competitive field.
