The first time I heard this song was while visiting Quebec City with my partner in Oct 2023 . We were enjoying an afternoon walk and heard some faint singing and as we turned the corner, there he was - this wonderful street singer bringing so much joy to everyone around him as he moved to the lyrics and we all joined in - a marvelous memory, a beautiful song.

For non-French speakers: this is a sort of love song about a man walking along the Champs Elysées an evening during which he feels particularly outspoken and happy, saying hello to people he crosses on the street and thus meets a girl. They exhange a few pleasantries, realize they enjoy themselves in each other's company, so when she says she's got an appointment with a band of musicians, they finally go together to an underground café where they dance and sing to the tune of the band's guitar music. They have such fun and enjoy themselves so much, that they don't even kiss, but fall tenderly in love and by the next morning they are walking between Etoile (Arc de Triomphe) and Concorde (Place de la Concorde) exhausted but happy after a long night and feel that all the birds they hear singing during this early morning walk, are a 1000-string orchestra singing their new love. The chorus or refrain lines say that On the Champs Elysées (Aux Champs Elyséés x2), be it by sunny or rainy weather (au soleil ou sous la pluie), at noon or at midnight (à midi ou à minuit) there's always all you can wish for (Il y a tout ce que vous voulez), on the Champs Elysées (aux Champs Elysées). It's a beautiful song, loved by all the French, often played at weddings, parties, happy celebrations, Christmas, New Year, because of its tenderness and lovely positive feeling. I hope this helps!! I started learning French during the civil lockdown in 2020. I started with Duolingo and later added RU-vid videos and songs. Then, I liked the sound of Les Champs-Élysées without even understanding the lyrics. It's 2023 - a little over 3 years down the line, and I'm so proud to announce that I understand the lyrics of this song!🥹🥹❤

I remember hearing this for the first time on the radio in the car when I was 6-7 years old. Now I'm 14 and this song reminds me of just how easy life can be when you are a child.
