It came out of nowhere. A relative mentioned that this was my Mums favourite tune . Ive never heard it . My Mother passed away this year . This song was used for her remembrance. It crushed everyone. Total Class.

I was 12 going on 13 (September 29th) when this was in the charts. I think it came out just before or during our school holidays (UK) and had just finished my first year at high school. Many happy memories are attached to this song. RIP, Joe.
I played in a band back in the 60s and we opened for Joe & The Drifters in the Ierne Ballroom in Dublin. He was a great performer and a really nice guy. Met him in a store in Las Vegas years later with his manager and we had a great chat and he gave me tickets for his show. R.I.P.
He has to have had one of the best voices in the world...certainly the best in Ireland. Many's the saturday night I went to his live dance gigs in the midlands. He deserved much greater recognition.
joe dolan was very good friends with Robbie Willams dad. robbies dad would come to visit and take robbie with him. Joe dolan would stay with the family. Robbie remember seeing joe dolan as a very young child.

went to dance halls every time joe and drifters where playing in northern ireland way back in the sixties went to lots of show bands back then but joe and drifters I wouldnt miss have great memorys of the show band era miss you joe 66 year old from ni RIP.
This was Joe's first international hit in 1969. He was still recording with that beautiful unique voice of his just before he passed away in 2007. God bless you Joe, thank you for leaving us with so many treasured memories. Sleep well.xx

A Finnish artist named Fredi covered this song. Fredi was as much loved by the Finnish audience as Joe was by the Irish. Fredi passed away two years ago. Thank You Fredi and Joe. We will not forget you.
Although I was 3 at the time of him recording the song, it takes me back in time My Dad, a big strong man, loved his music. Today bed ridden this same man has a hearing aid. Not able to get the joy of music without distortion.
