This is a perfect example of Joe knowing his audience and bringing them along with him in the performance. How I miss that. Sleep well Joe. Still much loved and missed. ❤
i saw elkie do this live few years ago and it sounds better now. Sounds like she gargles with broken glass to get that gravel sound in her voice, but in a good way. I would love to do this at karaoke, im a good singer but that key change just kills me, cant change from chest to head voice clean enough
First met him in the Club Hotel in Mullingar where I worked as a barmaid in 1961 all the band would call there before they went to sing in the County Hall. And then we all stopped dancing to listen to him singing the Ava Maria where you would hear a pin drop. And then all start jiving or twisting the night away. Drinking Fanta Orange, no alcoholic drinks sold in the dance halls.
I love you, only you, forever Joe Dolan! RIP, uncle Joe!
Many thanks for posting this video fantastic, Joe and i spent many happy times, we were together the night i got engaged the 3 of us spent the night drinking champagne driving round London in the back of a black taxi.
first saw Joe at imperial hotel Dundalk 1994, my woman was all dressed in white and i accidentally knocked the drink on the table which spilled all over her, she flipped I laughed, and it was over
Pearl's a singer She stands up when she plays the piano In a nightclub Pearl's a singer She sings songs for the lost and the lonely Her job is entertaining folks Singing songs and telling jokes In a nightclub Pearl's a singer And they say that she once was a winner In a contest Pearl's a singer And they say that she once cut a record They played it for a week or so On the local radio, it never made it She wanted to be Betty Grable But now she sits there at that beer stained table Dreaming of the things she never got to do All those dreams that never came true Pearl's a singer She stands up when she plays the piano In a nightclub Pearl's a singer She sings songs for the lost and the lonely Her job is entertaining folks Singing songs and telling jokes In a nightclub Pearl's a singer She stands up when she plays the piano In a nightclub Pearl's a singer She sings songs for the lost and the lonely Her job is entertaining folks Singing songs and telling jokes In a nightclub
This is great, always dismissed him as (with respect) a middle of the road dance band singer, Take it all back, quite a voice, pretty near as good as Elkie Brooks version
