Joe Lange was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on October 9th, 1947. After graduating high school, Lange married and briefly attended college before getting a full-time job and receiving his draft notice. After receiving his draft noticed, Lange went through basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky and advanced training at Fort Belvoir, Virginia to be a generator mechanic. Once he completed the training at Fort Belvoir, Lange returned home before deploying to Vietnam to serve for a year in the 124th Signal Battalion of the 4th Infantry Division. He was based in the Central Highlands, and provides a wide range of stories about his experiences both on and off the base.

I have seen almost every Vietnam Veteran interview here. These great men deserve our respect and please know that we’re proud of you. Mr Smither: You are doing God’s work recognizing and documenting their service. Honestly surprising that you’ve undertaken this topic, given the horrid state of today’s woke culture in academia. Thank you for your skill and attention to this important work.
