The great Joe Louis wasn’t “playing no part” he looked Cassius Clay in the eyes like a real man does and told him to his face that he’ll be on his bum of month tour. You not talking about white worshiping baby boomer or one of these simp @$$ Gen X’ers the great Joe Louis is part of the greatest generation aka “WW2 generation “ 1901-1927 son he knows Ali’s weaknesses and even spoke about them in a comment he made concerning how he would fight Clay and everything he said was absolutely correct.
Ali- I'm sad because I abuse my wife and cheat on her, have kids I will never meat or take care of and changed religions immediately after being drafted to hide from a war the poor couldn't hide from and still wore the American flag and acted like I was a patriot.
Joe just jealous Ali is by far the better boxer and a fighter for his people. Joe Louis was used and disrespected by white people. Forgot for years before his death by the very people who praise him now. GTFOH with the fake respect and admiration white peoples hated Ali . Now all of a sudden new found respect give me a break. A lot of us old head haven’t forgotten the BS and never will.
Yes indeed, Mr. Casey. What Joe means to America...and it's History is...Stunning when I first learned it. Most people simple don't even know his story. Joe Louis' story is such a wonderful, yet tragic tale.
@@DirtyMac5151 Joe and Ali ended up in financial problems. Ali luckily enough sold his name but he was being dragged to sports games when he should’ve been home.
I'm afraid your very very wrong fella Ali told Cus damato the same as you said Cus told him Joe would've KOd him he then went on to show Ali how he would've done it by catching him with a punch to the chin he then told Ali if an old man like me can catch u Joe Louis would definitely catch u
@@SisypheanAffairs hahahaha my friend that's certainly not the case he was never A precise puncher he just threw bombs however I do agree that indeedas he showed especially in his later years that indeed he learned how to ser punches and hide them as he did many many times like the moorer classic we will nvr forget
Two of the best in the heavyweight division across all eras. No one has a claim to number 1 and number 2 in heavyweight rankings like Ali and Louis do.
@@robertcolman2598 Liston was very capable but I wouldnt put him in top 3. Holmes, Lennox and Marciano have more wins and longer reigns so I think they have a better claim for top 3.
But did he fight the same caliber apponents that Ali fought? Simple answer NO. Joe Louis was next level in his era, but Ali would have beaten him prime vs prime
@@coffeetalk924 Max Schmelling albeit an accomplished European champion was an older athlete when he beat Joe Louis. Joe had sat on his laurels living the good life thinking no one could beat him while Max prepared for the fight of his life. It reminds me of the Buster Douglas beating Mike Tyson. In the end Nazi propaganda forced a rematch with disastrous results for Max. I think Buster must have known about that fight and wisely chose to retire after beating Mike. My roommate knew Tyson was undefeated and wanted to bet me on that fight. I had been following Mike's story after changing coaches and read an article about Buster preparing for that fight. I liked the chances and agreed to bet on Buster. My roommate later tried to welch on the bet after the Douglas win.
@russellnorwood2470 I respect Louis but I don't think so. Ali beat Sonny Liston, George Foreman, Joe Frazier, Ken Norton... I mean Liston was a beast. And Foreman was a wrecking machine. Louis most challenging apponent was Max Schmelling who was great in his own right, but Schmelling was no Sonny Liston or Big George
Louis had one punch KO power, but Ali’s footwork, mobility, hand speed and accuracy in his prime - before he got stripped of the title - was too much even for today’s heavyweights.
Fury would absolutely be up to an Ali fight. If Ali won, it would be an incredible match of skill and movement. I personally would favor Fury with the incredible size and power difference.
You don’t know what a ‘bum’ was in the sport of boxing, then. Ali was one, not Louis! Louis defended his HW Title 25 times. Ali never did or could do such, thus making a bum!
@@WickedG5150 Ali gave up his title for his stance against the Vietnam war. After his prison sentence, he won it back again. Ali was the greatest, in more ways than one.
@@HistoryNerd8765 OH THERE THEY GO! THEEEEERE THEY GO! EVVVERY time I start talking about boxing, a white man got to pull Rocky Marciano out they ass! ROCK MARCIANO! ROCK MARCIANO! That's their one! That's their one!
I love Joe Louis but from the tapes I've seen every fighter with speed always gave him trouble Max Schmeling,Billy Conn,Jersey Joe Walcott and Ezzard Charles Muhammad Ali was bigger and faster than all of them.
« إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ۚ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا صَلُّوا عَلَيْهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيمًا » 🥰 سبحان الله ... الحمد لله ... لا إله إلا الله .... الله أكبر .... لا حول ولاقوة إلا بالله ...
Back when sportsman could haggle each other in a light hearted way and shake hands afterwords and still be friends instead of going for each others throats like a lot of them do nowadays.
I see one greatest and that's Ali, he beat real heavyweights, hardest hitters, very technical boxers, Louis mostly beat blown-up middleweights and technically poor brawlers
@@MuhammadAli-kg7ij That "middleweight" argument is so ridiculous. People have gotten bigger. Louis, however, beat 2 fighters that were around the same size as Tyson Fury. He was Ali's idol. Joe Louis, career v career is the one person you could possibly make an argument for that could've been better than Ali. However, there's really no need to do that. No one would argue they weren't the greatest in their eras. Why would you ever feel the need to tear down Joe Louis to build up Ali, who clearly has a career with no trouble standing on its own merit?
@@skepchica Louis fought a few big guys who had boxing skills of a penguin🐧 Joe might be best in his era, no way you can put him among best of all times, he would lose vs today's middleweights
Louis is by far the most dominant undisputed heavyweight champion in boxing history. More titke defense as undisputed than some champions have pro fights. If you dint respect that 🤪
Joe gave it right back to him. Howard thought it was funny too. Guys being guys. Ali was funny in that he doesn’t look right at Joe Louis. Doesn’t really matter who would have won; only thing that matters is the ribbing. Of course, both men thought they would have won had they fought, because that’s how champions of any era are supposed to think.
There are only a few "What if" matches we were blessed to see. Ali / Fraser, Ali Foreman Leonard/ Hopkins Tyson / Holyfield Mayweather/ Pacquiao* * = Not a real match
@@ibrav3598 I actually forgot about that, but you're talking about two different styles, really. But an mma fight I would have liked to have seen is Silva and McGregor. I don't watch a lot of MMA so I don't really know any more of the major fighters now.
My father idled Joe Louis. Met him in person at the 1950 U.S. Open at the Medina Country Club in Chicago. Lena Horn was there too. Dad had all sorts of scrap books on Joe Louis that I cherish today.
Joe Louis was one of the Greatest of all times Heavyweight Champions. In his prime, "The Brown Bomber" was a force to be reckoned with. Incredible power in both hands, with unbelievable composure. They didn't call him, "The Brown Bomber" for nothing. R.I.P. Champ!
Yes so Joe Louis acted like a loser in this area but I'm not sure that Joe Louis finally acted like a true real human being and eventually referred to the name Muhammad Ali told the world's he was to be known by
Clay was his official and boxing name at that time before he became a Muslim and changed his name and hated the USA and dodged the military draft, all facts
@@jackmcd277 you are the only one correct on this thread, Ali officially changed his name after this interview and publicly hated the USA and dodged the draft for religious reasons all facts.
Hahahha Joe would’ve tore Ali a new one, NOT easily but definitely Joe would’ve stood Victor over Ali’s knocked the blip out Body. #Istilllovealithough
I met Ali , I think 1976 at City Hall in Louisville Kentucky. my wife worked with a mayor named , Harvey Sloane ,Alis friend .Ali was the smartest man I've ever met. He was so funny, he gave me some great advice ,and made me feel great about myself.😂lol. I was playing softball ,at Saint barts in Louisville . as I was leaving, I seen Ali in his mother's back yard. I jumped out of my car, and started running to him. He threw his fists in the air ,and snarled,at me. I said hey man, you can't let just anybody, run into your mother's back yard. Ali said, what do you mean I can't? don't you know who l am sucker . We started sparring all over his mother's back yard . I began to get confidence ,cuz I was getting in on him. He realized my confidence. Did a Ali shuffle, and through a six, punch combination, a quarter of an inch, from each side of my head. So fast that I felt the wind from the combination.😂😂 He let me know who the boss was ,real fast. Before they took, his license away, he was in his prime. No one, and I mean no one, even compared with him. We miss you a champ.
Ali withstood punches from Earnie Shavers who hit harder than Louis. Louis would’ve given Ali a great fight but he never would’ve beaten him unless they fought several times.
Styles make fights. Just because Ali could take big punches from big fighters doesn't mean he could beat Joe Louis. If Joe could hit Ali, he would hurt him.
