Its a function of age. It takes good genetics, taking care of your voice, and practice practice practice to figure out ways to be almost as good as you once were.
Sounds great! Joe Lynn turner's voice is and always has been one of the best in Hard Rock. Still sings with a ton of soul and feeling. Keep rocking Joe!
I met Joe back in ‘82 when I was 17 and he was with Rainbow. They played a small venue in my city. I didn’t actually know his name, the only person that I knew about was Ritchie Blackmore, when played with Deep Purple. So when I asked him what his name was he said Joe, I said just Joe? He said yes, “just Joe” and the name stuck. They were all so nice, great memories.
My nephew Steve on Lead Guitar! He is the best and hardest working musician I know. There is nothing he can't play! He's the best. Love the song Steveo!
Wow! I just right now wanted to write that guitar player is great! :) He has his own signature and that's great! Not just try to be good! But stay yourself and do your best... He does!
Back in high school '84, I transcribed the lyrics of this song for a calligraphy project in Art class. My teacher gave me an A. This song just digs down deep into my soul.
Same here ...ain't life a son of a bitch. 84, success story, romance... This song never goes out of style. Thx man...reminds me of the golden era of life. Take care!
After the breakup of Fandango, in 1980, Turner received a call from former Deep Purple guitarist Richie Blackmore, who played in his band Rainbow, in which he was the leader. At the audition, Blackmore was so delighted that he immediately included Joe in the Rainbow line-up. Before Turner joined Rainbow, this band was popular in Europe and Japan, but did not achieve the same popularity in the United States. Thanks to Turner's contribution to the band's music, Rainbow finally achieved popularity in the United States. In the early and mid-80s, several songs from Rainbow albums with Turner's participation reached the Top 20 in the charts of various radio stations. "Stone Cold" became the first hit of the group to hit the Top 40; Rainbow clips were played on MTV
So so great Joe was such an influence to so many singers. He never got the credit awesome to see him still out there doing it. Worshipped him as a kid and he still sounds great. This is a very hard song to sing.
JLT is 68. Let that sink in. The mans pipes are just as strong as ever. Very few guys can maintenance their vocal chords at 60+. Glenn hughes, JLT, steven tyler are just some examples
JLT is on my top 5 favorite vocalist list. Just love the sound of his voice. And look at him here, voice still great and he infuses the vocals with emotion, unlike so many of these older rock performers who sound like they are just going through the motions or turn their old songs into elevator type tunes. Joe still holds the passion in his vocals.
Great stuff Joe....pity we never got to see that Rainbow reunion and see all these great songs played today with all the experience you guys gained over the years....
great version of this song, Joe! and Steve played Ritchie's parts quite nicely, with his own tasteful embellishments and GREAT sound - no matter whether it was a Wolfgang or not.
Ritchie casts a pretty big shadow…but that guitarist pulled it off! Fk yeah! The added end solo was killer too. That drummer is killer too. As a bass player it’s my first order of business. If you’re not feeling the drummer and if he’s not bringing it then the whole thing is a disaster. Joe’s vocals don’t need any validation from me. The guy is just incredible. Through the years, he just doesn’t seem to age at all.
Very versatile. Can do Street of Dreams, Stone Cold, Can't let you go...then move on to King of Dreams, Cut runs deep and has even covered Back in Black by AC-DC.
