Shohei Ohtani opens the floodgate for high school guys to convince their coaches to let them play two-way. In less than 10 years, you will see two-way players who are being groomed in high school right now.
Don't think so , won't see many if any at all , not like this,Ohtani is a generational talent,in America you will get pigeonholed as a hitter or a pitcher .
That may be one of the best interviews I’ve ever watched. I’d love to spend the a camping weekend with Joe Maddon. My wife probably wouldn’t though. She doesn’t understand the strategy behind baseball.
Shohei says he feels confident on the field but he is always nervous when he is interviewed, THIS HE SAID IN JAPAN..!! Shohei is a baseball player, not an actor…let him focus on the game, it speaks for it self!! ⚾️⚾️⚾️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👼👼👼
Loved the bus comment. 53 years ago, for 2 summers I rode a bus all over the south playing in every minor league park. No A/C. no Walkman, just miles and miles. And we played there where Bull Durham was filmed years later.
It's a great interview because the interviewee does about 95% of the talking. I hate interviewers who go on and on with the preface to a question in order to make himself appear knowledgeable.
@@joebarr725 I definetly agree. Also the questions aren’t all about one subject. I’m sure Joe’s been getting constant questions about Ohtani. I love Ohtani and think he’s amazing. But I like how his questions merge into more in depth analysis of the game. 👍
Please don't rush Shohei Otani. Grammar, pronunciation and accent are all completely different in English and Japanese. These things make it difficult for Japanese people to learn English. The biggest problem is that in English education in Japan, the priority is to score points on the test. It's silly, but most English teachers in Japan can't speak English.
Shohei is having such an insane year that we just watched a 17 min Maddon interview w/ out Mike Trout's name even being mentioned. Who btw was putting up .333/.466/.624 this season before he got hurt
very good interview good Q&A, like how Dan Patrick sits back and lets Maddon talk who is so interesting - Maddon's outlook and approach is fantastic, he's so right that there are more gray areas in sports (and life) than black & white absolutes which sports media loves to portray. Maddon would be a great coach to play for.
I'm pretty sure on Page 1 of the baseball rulebook, it says something like "a baseball game consists of nine innings". That's what is so bad with that.
@@jaycomas1678 EXACTLY...big impact....if JOE wanted too...everytime SHOHEI screws up he can give an excuse "hey SHOHEI sit down" you are not playing good..........its like a boss at work..
@@johnchang1412 Exactly. The managers decide on checking bad calls, deciding pitching/batting/fielding lineups, putting in or taking out players in certain situations.
