Joe’s smart. He understands human behavior. This is still the team that drive everyone nuts with random complacency games. People don’t change. They learn. Part of maintaining that learning is keeping the lessons active
thinking about how in your interview Joe called himself a contrarian - and seeing that when he gets asked a question after practice or anytime and how he answers it - and how often he basically starts with "I don't accept the premise of your question" - he challenges everyone's assumptions all the time - that may be crazy, but it is also impressive - and i think he means it when he talks about how much he cares about these guys as people
When Joe was asked about the challenges of starting the preseason overseas, he said, “Who cares?” He’s right, and I’m with him on that one. The big picture is that the team is going overseas to prepare for the upcoming season, to see who cracks the rotation and comes off the bench, and to view the strengths and weaknesses of each role player.
The movie about the guy with the tattoos all over his body to remember stuff is Memento, Tom. Don't worry, the last time "I" tried to talk about that movie, I couldn't recall the name either.
I love the Boston Celtics.I have been rooting for them since 1968. And I will watch just about any Celtics content. I'm really not that picky. I absolutely love Ali Barefoot's podcast. However, when you put on a guy who cannot speak English at all. Yikes. His sentences include like like like you know, you know, um. I mean. He has no, and I mean no, pride of performance or self-discipline. I wouldn't let one of my young children.Listen to us because of the bad example but they wouldn't have wanted to anyway because they know better
And by the way, John, you ought to consider the message instead of shooting the messenger like the last time I pointed this out. You, you write and speak for a living. So it is not too much to expect you to do it well. I also have made my living from writing and speaking. I graduated from Harvard Laww and I have been in the pellet and trial lawyer ever since. It runs in the family. My wife was a magazine editor and my daughter has a contract to publish her second and novel the titles of which contain no grammatical errors. I am not so unusual as Boston Celtics fans go because Boston is the academic center of the country.
Joe and John are paralleling the old zen parable, “good luck, bad luck (who knows).” It’s a short read and there are video versions. If you are going through really bad or good times, I can’t recommend this story enough.
