I have loved Joe since the 1960s & I still do . When he got injured in games , alot of times he stayed in the games. To me Joe is the best Quarterback & he will always be my favorite & Joe is a legend 🏈💚❤

Namath a Class Act What I appreciated is how fondly Namath spoke of Unitas going out at the 50 yard line to shake hands prior to the start. I was a young pup and admired Unitas as his career was ending. I was in a complete fog watching that game with the Jets beating the Titanic Team in the Colts in Super Bowl 3 (the real BALTIMORE Colts!).

Sukhmeet Sanghera Maybe, I think the lions have a chance eventually and the Chiefs are catching up. It would be one heck of a Super Bowl if the Browns faced the Lions.

Incoming "joe Namath sucked" comments. People are too stupid to realize joe Namath made history. He was the first quarterback to ever throw for 4,000 yards in a single season, oh and he was the first AFL qb to beat an NFL team in the super bowl. If the jets don't beat the colts in super bowl 3, who knows when a merger happens

The merger had already been decided by then. It had nothing to do with Super Bowl victories.

He also had 220 picks in just 12 seasons of playing. Tom Brady has 190 in 21 years.

@greyson gayne dude ...namath played in the 60s and 70s you were allowed to interfere with receivers much more then than you can today. Nowadays if you touch the QB (especially Brady himself) Or wr you get a ticket from the zibras. Joe got hurt alot affecting his throws. I'm not saying Brady isn't better than na math but to say he was trash is nuts if tom Brady played in namaths era he would last just a little longer than him sorry for the long comment lol

Most of these people commenting negatively on joe Namath didn’t see the jets pound the colts in 69 or understand who he was , back then foot ball was not only a sport it was show biz , big and exciting. Broad way joe was a hero and still is a icon to us kids who watched him play and a great many of us wanted to be just like him . I watched that game at 9 years old and it was the greatest team and game I’ve ever seen and I will never forget it .

I was huge Baltimore Colts fan back when this game was played, and I remember Namath making the "guarantee" prediction while he was being interviewed after the Jets beat the Raiders in the AFL championship game. It was thought at that time by many, that the AFL was an inferior league to the established NFL. If I remember correctly, the Colts were 17-point favorites and nobody gave the Jets a chance, including me. Watching Super Bowl III, I kept waiting for the Colts to break the game open and of course, it never happened (3 picks in the red zone will do that). I always hated Joe Namath after that game, but as the years have passed, I have the utmost respect for the guy now. Incredible how they pulled it off. I don't think people nowadays realize how big of an upset this was. Similar to the US Men's hockey team beating the Soviets in the 1980 Olympics. To make life even more miserable for this Baltimore fan, the following year in the World Series, the NY Mets beat the Orioles.

They didn't show the AFL championship game in New York because of the blackout rules in place at the time could you imagine that happening today no way I'm lucky I was around I was a kid but I remember listening to the AFL Championship on a radio. I forgot how good the Jets defense was along with the great offense.

A year or two ago I got to do something I've waited over 40 years to do. A local sportscaster had said if the Jets win he would eat crow. I ran into the sportscaster and told him about that. He looked at me a moment, and shook his head.

"Starting to get interested in NFL thru this Superbowl i.e. Mr. Namath's positivity/JETS challenge vs established powerful/ COLTS, both being led by already present greats/NY JETS' Coach Weeb Eubanks & BALTIMORES' Coach Donald Francis Shula...on my small transit radio & surprised about the outcome but destiny had other ideas for our entry into the NFL...🤔🤗🏞
