The Morning Joe panel recaps Day 19 of Trump's criminal hush money trial, which included a heated exchange between New York state Judge Juan Merchan and defense witness, attorney Robert Costello.
Then we should not call Hillary secretary when she goes on TV. We shouldn't call Obama president, because he's just a citizen now. What's good for the goose is good for the gander
shouldve been nmistrail already, when the star witness admitted to lying about the only evidence they have, and admitting to stealing money from trump.
And here I thought trump was the biggest stooge in the trial. Costello just turned this into the Jerry Springer show. Next up trump's defense team will call Dr. Aaron Rodgers NY Jets to defend trump's Covid response.
The biggest black eye to the US judicial system ever, nothing even comes close to this agenda driven crap. The high courts in the country need to start calling this bs scheme out for what it is and this judge needs to be held responsible for the mess that this kangaroo court is. Completely PATHETIC JOKE! Totally unprofessional.
Yes,, several doctors have clearly explained Donald Trump;s dementia. They are not quacks but highly qualified men in their field. Dr John Gartner will tell you and explain Trump's dementia. Notice the main media does not air this at all. So I am. UK here.
@@PolymorphicBytestrumpty-dumpty never EARNED that position. What I find really interesting is that a vast amount of his worshippers are the very people that he hates. But hey, you guys keep kneeling to your orange savior, karma has a way of finding people...
And they will be in an office if they donate enough to his campaign… so sad they are doing this to themselves, that America is readying it self for worse, but self inflicted too 7:22
It’s not a matter of desert. The presidency isn’t an honor one is raised to, like a knighthood. It’s an office of the republic. A man takes it up and lays it down when his term ends.
For 45 to have demanded that Costello be a witness was like having a mob boss be on the stand acting like a " tough guy". Despicable display of disrespect and I applaud Judge Merchan on his measured warnings continually and adherence to the decorum for his courtroom. Costello was a loose cannon.
@@markcosenza3274 Zzzz... boring and lame comment when the person we're supposed to be "deranged" about is unlike anyone in History. Ignorance is not your friend.
tRump would have lied, whined, blamed, bullied, in other words the same things he always does, and get free air time by the media. I can't wait until he is gone forever.
I am in Aus. The judicial system needs reform like everything else in the USA. It is no longer the leader of the free world. It's crazy and sad at the same time. I like Merchan but I wish he was harder on trump and his minions.
Merchan is great, can you imagine if Aileen Cannon were conducting this trial? Donald lost this case the minute an honest and brave judge got it to hear.
@@WinstonSmith24 Better than crimes with no cases. Every defendant who doesn't plead guilty is presumed innocent until a trial determines the outcome. The guiltier a defendant is, the louder they scream "No crime! I'm innocent!" Try 'em anyway.
Jail comes with some of the other charges down the pipeline that are more serious than this one. Unless Trump successfully steals the upcoming ellection, jail will come.
@@user-tg4ir4yu7xsee Exhibits 35 & 36 as well as Trump's own words under oath from CA civil case showing his understanding/intent of payment entered into to NY case as evidence.
Costello doesn't strike me as someone who would be afraid of 48 hours in jail. You understand there are people like that in the world, don't you? Some people you just can't intimidate.
@@user-tg4ir4yu7x Do you think it is because he isn't bright enough to understand that he is so close to going to jail? Or do you think trump has some kind of grip on him to make him try so hard to flip this trial over? 🤔
@@Don-md6wn If that's the case then maybe someone should explain to this Judge who is going to appoint the next Attorney General. Maybe that'll take the starch out of his sails.
Why are they afraid of those guy treat the like everyone with less money put them in jail they want it let them have it .treat them like poor ,black,an brown folks
It's not a courtroom it's a disaster do you even understand the merits of the case the underlying supposed crime has expired and they're trying to charge federal laws in a state court with a non-federal da case
I have so much respect for Judge Merchan. He's shown he is up to the task no judge would ever want. He's thoughtful, temperate, intelligent and reasonable. He's handling himself and his courtroom with dignity and calmness. No matter the outcome of this trial, I have faith that he has run it as well as it could be.
You don't know what you're talking about. The Judge first has to advice that the person is behaving comtemptuosly than if it is repeated then and only then can he find him in comptempt.
So very sad that so called judge Cannon can’t find the integrity, intelligence or the responsibility to behave anywhere close to the standard of judge Merchan👏👏
Putting them in contempt would be playing right into their hands. He's using the exact ladder so any appeals court doesn't have an excuse to turn over the jury's decision
But the fact that Cohen admitted his mistakes makes him all the more credible to the jury because those mistakes were 7 years ago and so the defense's alleged points immediately backfire, especially with a witness like Costello right after Cohen. Cohen was grilled for about 20 hours over 4 days and performed admirably the entire time. The defense witness was on the stand for less than 30 minutes and provoked the judge to no end. Also, the prosecution had already addressed the alleged 'Perry Mason moments' on their part, both lying and stealing by Cohen. It is therefore no wonder that the jury became increasingly bored.
Cohen had already talked about keeping $30K of the $50K he secured for a vendor Trump was going to stiff in his direct testimony. There was no new revelation yesterday like Trump's cult is trying to claim.
@@WinstonSmith24they stated it early in the case. The prosecutor listed three crimes that Trump intended to commit: violation of federal campaign finance limits, violation of state election laws by unlawfully influencing the 2016 election, and violation of state tax laws regarding the reimbursement. And the indictment charged 34 counts of falsifying business records. The case was opened in 2019 so it is within the statue of limitations. They couldn't formally start the case because the OLC has a policy not to charge a sitting President with a criminal charge. But as soon as 2021 hit and trump was out of office the DA was free to proceed with his investigation.
Any other citizen in the United States would be coming in in shackles for the rest of the trial. There wouldn't be even be a "I hear your are free on Wednesdays". Wednesdays should be a holding cell til Thursdays
I’m Norwegian and must pose the question. What on earth is going on in the once great United States? No respect for any of your great institutions. If I was American I would be seriously worried that my country was falling apart - at speed.
The terms we used to use was "punk". You know the old saying "a fish rots from the head"? Well Little Donnie Dolittle is at the top of this steaming pile💩
He would be all too happy to do that, too - haha. Trump's behavior is lousy but understandable. People like Nauta are just the lowest of the low, and he's a fool if he thinks Trump doesn't think of him as disposable too. Hahahah
Great color from Lisa Rubin about the interaction between Judge Merchan & Costello, I love her description of the image on the screen when cameras in the courtroom went back on in the overthrow room, with Costello looking contrite and Merchan firmly back in control. Judge Merchan is trying very hard to make sure this case doesn't get overturned on appeal, which is why Trump isn't coming to court in chains. But it's infuriating how the judiciary does so little to reign in Trump's egregious attacks on our judiciary. I agree with Joe, he *should* be coming to the trial in an orange jumpsuit. But my fury will be mollified if we get a guilty verdict that's held up on the umpteen appeals Trump--bc of his wealth--will be able to afford to make. Most of us could barely afford to pay lawyers for one trial, let alone take appeals all the way to the SCOTUS. It seems to me that Cohen admitting he stole $30,000 from Trump was a blow to the defense, bc it shows he has reformed, that he's continuing to own up to the fact that as a Trump employee he played fast and loose with the law. If he was truly a liar he would've denied taking the money. And isn't it the pot calling the kettle black for Trump, or the New York Post, to call anyone else a con artist? Rupert Murdoch came to America to be a media mogul and take control of the GOP so he could have lower taxes, not out of any love of our nation, if he loved our nation he wouldn't support a man who's constantly tearing us down. He wouldn't let his media outlets constantly tear our nation down either, he wouldn't allow his opinion hosts to punish Congressinal Republicans who dare to compromise with Dems in order to get things done.
There has been double standards. No matter what happens, I doubt Trump will see Prison Time. Costello is only causing chaos in the courtroom, maybe we should be asking why would he do that. Costello should already know he can't do that in the courtroom.
Exactly! Trump will not do jail time because his gonna go to a mental facility! Donnie boy, claim your ONLY way out- “INSANITY PLEA”. Guilty as Charged
@gerade-aus They will try anything to cry about. It's getting old about the gag order. He still is getting his message across from others. He is even using the gag order not to testify, and that isn't the truth.
Well, except for Aeleen Cannon. I have zero respect for her or the corrupt maga conservative SC justices. I have the utmost respect for Judge Merchen. He's a national treasure...and hero.
