I’m happy it was informative as this is literally the owners manual. I tend to like the Joe Porper demo vs. the other one made by the two gentlemen

Where are you with the idea or build, any specific questions. I think a rear chuck is nice. The buggiest thing for me is 30 inches between centers. The porrper lathe has so many abilities iits almost unbelievable. I think the best or the thing that I would do is a direct copy of this lathe with a few tweaks and changes but only those that would improve the capabilities or make it more rigid. I like that it doesn’t have a traditional bed, and use the rails for the carriage and tailstock

They no longer make it, it’s unfortunate bc it’s the best cue maker lathe but they no longer make it

Unfortunately the specific version is no longer in production but if you keep looking on marketplace depending on how bad you want it (drive 8 hour to pick up and 8 hours back) you can find em pop up. What are you designing if you don’t mind me asking? Is it like a mid-America, type or? Just curious. I’m always amazed at ingenuity
