Pink Floyd illustrates what Duncan is talking about on the Dark Side of the Moon cover. The light is "inspiration" which shoots into the "prism" which is your physical body. When the light passes through you it creates a "spectrum of color" which symbolizes, in Pink Floyd's case, music.
A lot of people think we're actually in an age of anti-intellectualism because of the science denying and dissemination and consumption of fake information.
“You’re creating monsters with your imagination”. Underrated video showing the importance of not judging those who still sleep. What you think about will manifest into reality! Continue to vibrate on a positive frequency.
Joe Rogan is a gift, he's able to rally meat heads, intellectuals, and hippies like no one else in history. I love Duncan, by far the funnest guest to listen to, always a thought fuck with him.
It’s pretty much an animated version of Duncan’s conversations on podcasts. I LOVE THE SHOW! ps: I think the little bald mayor is a representation of Joe.
Joe is not worthy of Midnight Gospel. That is reserved for more thoughtful thinkers. The guests on there are legitimate experts in there fields, not a ufc commenter/podcaster
Flow state. I can’t even count how many canvas, murals, bodypainting designs I’ve created in that state of consciousness that I can’t articulate how they were produced afterwards. There is a connection to a higher realm/dimension through art. It’s beyond imagination and it’s more subconscious than conscious.
painting on acid took me on an extremely profound personal journey. beginning without any concept in mind and letting the brush fly with no expectations. almost immediately images and scenes created themselves before my eyes that i had a passionate connection to and understanding of. i would simply add to or enhance the story that was unfolding before me. i truly believe art is the deepest reflection of the psyche and has helped me through some intense truths and obstacles. i was not painting; i felt as though i was being painted.
It's crazy because i first messed with psychedelics a few years ago and have had the chance to reach peaks on all the main ones to the point where i had to kind of temporarily refind myself and make sure i was still sane after many all too real experiences 😅. And beforehand while i was a heavy thinker and was always fascinated by huge life concepts I never really understood a word of conversations like this and those found in a lot of philosophical work, the moment i had those breakthroughs the words all fell in place and made the absolute most sense, i take it that my imagination plays a big part in it but at the same time like where Duncan was getting at, everything inner and out are perceived by our imagination so in a way all of life is imaginary as reality can only be seen through our minds and imagination, so what really is real? And that's where psychedelics start to take you and it's very liberating because you see life really is chemicals and atoms that make up the universe that are all interacting, so they help you get the bigger picture of that and the inner connection of it all, along with realizing it's all just playful and it's the human ego that takes it too damn seriously because it wants reality to be absolute so it can exists as it does because it's the you that's been created from growing up and learning the world, but it's not you, just the "imaginary" you, and there is a you underneath that is pure and apart of the whole, whatever god is and whatever your belief, that god is apart of you and all of life. That is what you can get from psychedelics, hell you can get it without them as it's the feeling already deep down in you but your ego has buried and suppressed it, psychedelics can however dissolve that barrier and make you see and feel that core, they are a chemically induced shortcut to that very state. And yeah...i'm stoned right now lol.
I want to chill with Duncan and just listen to his amazing thoughts and learn some crazy knowledge about spirituality. He is such an interesting guy. Open minded people are the best
A few years ago, I had this crazy feeling for like a month that i was going to bumping into Alex Grey. One day, out of the blue, a coworker left a piece of his art on my desk. I left for lunch that day knowing I was going to bump into him and I did! Both he and his wife were frantically trying to mail something, they did NOT look like they wanted to chat, so I just muttered something like "big fan of your art..." and kept walking. Wish there was more to the story.
Social Psychos 😂 Be like Death himself visiting you to kick it with you for 20-30 minutes that seems like a lifetime 😂😂😂 “See Joe, this is what’s gonna happen when u die. Let me break it down for you and show you”
Duncan has some incredible and beautiful thoughts, made me cry, Duncan or Duncan and Joe should write down some of these philosophies and ideas and publish them. I really appreciate your deep, thoughtful and life changing conversations.
Alex Grey's artwork is some of the most incredible and fantastic in the world. He has explored other-worldly realms and returned to recreate it with his art, and rather successfully. Powerful and amazing.
that building at 2:05 looks like something Martin Sheen would have seen when he finally got to the end of the river where Col Kurtz was camped out in Apocalypse Now
Ugly ppl (outside and inside) always putting other ppl down in public or online cus they ain't got what others have. Men sizing men up for their own ego and jealousy. Ppl pile on. U either have looks or money or nothing. And most ppl have nothing so they h8 on pretty visuals cus they think those ppl will have it better......well they do lol
12:02 is sooo true! When I was insecure in college, I just acted the way people expected me to. And I've seen other people do that. That's probably why talking some people up is so powerful, because they conform to this image of what you say due to their insecurity. Cool .
@@OliverBB. I see your point but I wouldn't say it's borrowed man, I'd say it's built upon what came before, it's a perfection and refinement of what already was.
I was loving this guys talk about art giving people hope and Joe completely switched the subject! I also liked how when Joe was talking about how you can DEFINATLY tell when something is weird about someone and then Duncan made the important point that we're not always right and have our own bias.
A little late here, but listening to this episode made my night... Four years ago, I stayed in CoSM with my partner, who has since passed away. We went to a sacred relationship art ceremony with Alex and Allyson, and began creating a piece I have hanging in my living room today... We were free to roam the temple as we ate mushrooms and looked at the endless displays of artwork. It was one of the most memorable and mind altering experiences of our lives.
Imagination isn't something to be disregarded as unreal. The modern world you live in, the clothes you wear, the language you use and how the alphabet sounds, the toothpaste on your toothbrush, the music you love and the instruments that play it, all existed in imagination before it existed in physicality. Imagination is primary and vital.
I like listening to Duncan speak, he has a great way with words that really makes you stop and think about what he's saying and question what you had come to understand and accept as "reality."
At 10:40 what Duncan starts to talk about really hit home for me. You guys are talking about how people give off weird vibes. Hes saying it might not be their fault, it might be internal. As someone with autism I feel like I give off weird vibes all the time. I have to make a real hard effort to talk to people, connect with people, open up to people, and do eye contact. Im just weird in general. People dont treat you well a lot of the time if you are like this.
Sun Tzu when I started smoking weed there was a lot of burden toughts and memories which overhelmed me and days after I was questioning myself do I have disorder or some other mental ilness...2 times had heavy suicidal toughts on weed..then I had crazy dream when I was high... I dreamt scarab beetle coming out of shell and flying to my face... she was kicked and torn apart but eventually scarab reborned... 1 and half year from those moments I recovered a lot ... I just realized I spend a lot of time around closed-minded people(fcking christians!!!) ... and try starting journal
Being weird is a gift! You are living as your true self, the only thing that is missing is realising this truth. Try bettering yourself this way, and stop caring what others think of you. When you do this, things will start to go your way, I promise :)
So something I noticed on a trip is my Imagination was like a film that was like a see-through layer of skin put over reality distorting my perceptions
Felt that on a recent shroom trip, it turned bad though and that distortion of reality made it so much worse. Good experience overall though pretty eye-opening.
@max steven - what were you taking? On shrooms I can see my ego squriming around my mind and wearing my thoughts masquerading as profundity. Other times the past, present, and future all sort of melt together and when I try and walk around I'm unsteady and I have this unnerving feeling of constantly falling forwards or constantly rotating like I'm doing front flips in slow motion.
I love this Duncan Trussell more and more.. I always say you're going to go through life wondering whose imagination you're in.. and the wonderful thing about drugs is that you see for the first time that you're in the imagination of every person you meet..
THANK YOU JOE. We assume that we are communing with some extradimensional entity. But that cheapens the reality of what’s being shown to you, that your mind is truly the amazing thing.
This is pretty spot on. I've always looked at making art as an entity with a mind of it's own using the body and mind of the creator as a vessel and portal to cross over onto the material realm, in the form of art.
All you gotta do is get within 5 ft of Alex Grey and you can feel him theres no question, and his art is one of a kind unparalleled by anyone else. We are lucky to have him share with us, hopefully one day more of us will realize what were actually doing here
Got to appreciate the critique after all giving long abstract descriptions of art pieces, is part of art, what it is, what the artist intended, and what the viewer sees are all to be interpreted. In the eye of the beholder.
hey man i know u never gunna see this, but please start putting time stamps on these clips! :) would make it soo much easier to find these convo's on spotify
Hello, I just wanted to provoke some curiosity in your own mind toward Hamilton Morris. I can't get enough of that guy, and I'm always looking for new videos of him and never come up with anything. The last interview with him was proper. I loved it. I hope you have reason to hear more about him.
6:11 "How much of that is your imagination...how much of your trip is your own mind?" 7:46 "...is the way you're thinking effecting those things?" Our thoughts are energy and what we are experiencing in a psychedelic trip is also energy so our thoughts/perception/energy effect the way the energy we interact with is expressed...they say something about this in quantum [mechanics?] where the act of observing an atom changes its expression. It's pretty wild
Joe is intelligent and open minded anyone saying otherwise doesn’t understand why he’s so popular he can hold conversation and have great debates with brightest. Love Duncan too!!
I saw Alex grey and his wife paint live in Denver a few years back with a band call Eoto. Let me tell you, they added a whole other phycadelic aspect to the show. All my friends were there, it was awesome.
And similarly, if you project onto or mention the best characteristics of a person, and hold space for them to be good, this can animate them to be better and thrive in those best parts of themself
But through meditation you achieve these other dimensions and it is a whole other experience where it becomes a part of you. You don't loose it once the trip is out of your system.
Kiefer Holton in my personal experience acid is actually easier to handle then shrooms if you ever feel ready i'd say do it...i yacked on shrooms too because i have a sensitive stomach
:( tried clicking the link to the full video but it says the video is private. Well that's new. Is it because of the Spotify deal Joe has? Someone please help me understand
