Steve Rinella is JRE's best guest, meat eater is the first hunting show that doesn't feel like a hunting show at all. If you haven't seen it you're missing out
Rinella is easily one of my favorite guests of JRE. I'm not a Hunter or a diehard conservationist but hes just an interesting fella with an unique way of storytelling.
I know Joe won’t read this: My background. I am a spectre gunship veteran. I flew on the AC130H for just under a decade with a lot of e.k.i.a.’s under my belt. I have trauma from past events I’ve experienced and more. I am about 52-53 mins into this interview. Joe is talking about trauma and losing fear and doing what you like to do because you like it. I recently decided to become a content creator for Tom Clancy video games and have already been featured in Forbes Magazine and gained over 20k on YT so far. I completely agree with what you’ve said. I feel that I have witnessed and done so much stuff that I have had this switch go off. I most definitely have a don’t give a F mentality towards certain things in life and I believe I have the perfect amount of ptsd. I am able to make videos and enjoy making videos and I have this amount of no F’s that I am able to ignore the people that tell me YT will never work out. I constantly hear, “why do you waste your time with that?” And I 100% agree with you. It’s because I enjoy it. I don’t care if it fails. I don’t care if it takes off. I enjoy making the content and I enjoy the interactions with people from all over the world. I would love to one day be successful enough to talk to you. I have so many gunship stories and experiences that would blow your mind. Thank you for being you. This motivates me to continue to be me. Thank you.
Awesome story!! It's amazing to see how soldiers can turn some if the horrors into such greatness for others!! Thank you for your service and hope you have continued success in all your new adventures!!
Keep it up, man. So much of dealing with trauma and pain seems to be finding something you're passionate about and pouring yourself into it. I'll check out your content. I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some Tom Clancy. I also appreciate any (military-related) fiction written by vets. I find it lends crucial realism. Unless you really know your stuff, it's clear when something was written by a civilian. P.S. I use to watch AC130's (and other craft) at the Willowgrove airshow when I was a wee lad. It's a tremendous piece of engineering.
💯 and I'd never heard about, nor am into, his wheelhouse but seriously impressed by a decent person and amazing listener (realise my hypocrisy by commenting!).
I love when Steve is on the show, not only for his own perspectives, but he seems to also bring the best stories and personal perspectives out of Joe as well
What I like about this guy and a lot of joe's non comic friends is how well they listen to ideas and how thoughtful they are when they respond. Not interrupting and not pushing narratives without listening to what someone is saying is rare and appreciated
@@user-ik5ze1sh7i you’re right! It makes me want to move out of the city and into the middle of nowhere. The peace/tranquility really puts what’s important in perspective!
Steven Rinella is my favorite guest of all time. Open-minded, but knows who he is. Seems like he's got some stuff figured out. I like his approach to life.
I never thought at 8yrs old id be listening to my mothers friend who would wait for the 3rd section of the Boston Globe every Sunday with the rest of us good ole regular folk.
By far my favorite JRE guest. Rinella(specifically his first visit on JRE) has truly changed my life. I went from a nerdy city boy in las vegas to full blown hunter/falconer. I would not be the same without him.
@@christianpaolantonioUFL my first step was finding a falconer near me to go hunt with and see if it was something I could handle. There are quite a few state and federal hoops to jump through before you can go out and trap a wild bird of prey. Well worth the effort though. If you're interested I could try to find someone in your area. If you're on facebook check out the American falconers apprentices group
Yea he's cool for sure, I've got an outdoorsy type show going on my channel, wanna make it kinda like meateater eventually. I bag on trucks in the mountains. Hope to make some folks laugh.
@D McCoy *Not really.* Just this past week, Alex Jones and Kanye West got a million+ views in a couple hours. 10 hours in, Steve Rinella has 607,574 views. I'd say Rinella is in about the middle: Half the non-Rinella guests get more clocks faster, and the other half get less clicks slower. Would I prefer to live in a world where Steve Rinella get the most and fastest JRE clicks? Yeah, probably. But I'm enough of a realist to know I don't live in that world.
@@Jaikay1 Maybe. So, what you're saying is that @D McCoy intended to write: *_I_** never click faster on JRE than when Rinella is on.* Of course, if that is what @D McCoy _intended_ to write, then he should have written: *I never click faster on JRE than when Rinella is on.* But I respond to what YT commenters _actually_ writer rather than believing YT commenters are genius poets whose writings need to be re-read a dozen times to deeply understand their meanings and intentions. And my reply to @D McCoy is a response to what he actually wrote and, unless he/she says he made a mistake with his/her original comment, I stand by my reply.
He is a great dude man love every episode of mart eater he is really breaking the stigma of hunters just wanting to kill something he shows the intimate side of what really takes place when you walk through the wild
I don't think most people would appreciate this comment. I first heard an elk bugle in Zion National Park in my late 30's. Hearing that is a special moment, but rare, I think, for most people. Nice comment!

Just going to throw this out there. Stephen Fry would be a great guest to have on the show to discuss topics like political correctness, religion and language! One of the most articulate and humble person you'll ever meet! He may not be well known in the US but he is a national treasure here in the UK and this would be the perfect platform to celebrate and learn from his brilliance!
I think part of the attraction is that they both come from completely different backgrounds. Steve grew up in the woods around his hometown and Joe grew up in a gym bouncing around with his military family. Two vastly different dudes that are BOTH on top of their respective “games”.
@@ElkinsEric you make a good point, but i also think the things they have in common are a significant part of their allure as a duo. Mostly that they're both very relatable despite them both being fairly well known celebrities. Of course Joe is a much more widely known personality than Steve, but they both come off as well grounded amd reasonable men. I guess to make it simple theyre both a "people's person"
The more I listen to this the more I realize that Steve Rinella is an extremely fascinating human and that hunting is only one profound way he's used as a facet to express that. I'd love to have a beer with that guy.
@John Sickler I could see why you would think that because of how quiet he is when discussing politics but I got the feeling he is just trying to be respectful to Joe because his political views are different and he doesn't want to get into a potentially argumentative situation with him. Unless there is a specific clip of him that I might have missed you want to point me in the direction of?
I never went hunting growing up but the show meat eater got me into hunting. I reached out on a Facebook group asking if anybody would be willing to take me with them so I can sit, watch, and learn and I have been about 20 times! I recently bought a bow and I hope to be able to hunt next year!
People are wasting so much energy and time on politics (when they solely won't be able to change the outcome).... Why do so many people not think this way? I have so many other interests or things I'm trying to learn that I don't have time for politics, nor do I want to get into it. You think your vote really matters 😂😂😂😂😂
Love this dude. He’s hilarious, humble, knowledgeable on a wide range of topics...I mean, cmon, if you don’t like this dude, yer dead inside. Keep the bow bros comin, joe!
The best part about the conversations with Steve Rinella is that you can tell they’re really friends. They’re just talking. No rush to make a point or statement, no defense of a particular stance. Just buddies. Definitely a favorite guest of mine.
@@jp05598 I believe he views them as friends as in he enjoys their company, but then he has his true blue friends whom he would go way out of his way to hang out with.
Hey everyone i hope you stay safe in this annoying pandemic, Im so close to 1700 subs all i ask for is a sub, it's so hard to grow! 🥺💖 Im gifting everybody who subs to me!😆
Joe also isnt a natural comedian. He's worked at stand up his entire life and takes most pride in it, but it's what he's least known for. Jokes from actual comedians fly over his head all the time.
LoL I haven’t seen any of Joes comedy specials but I watch the podcast sometimes, lots of ppl only know him as “that guy from fear factor” ha ha for sure he overhypes his comedic talent
Lucky for you he has his own podcast with a back catalogue of hundreds and hundreds of hours! Epic for lock down as he talks about mountains and lakes and hiking and hunting. Helps you escape the box you sit in for 8 hours a day!
What news? Like everything else it's impossible to find trustworthy news. I think other have had better reporting on the election than we've had in America.
Even if you aren't a fan of steven rinella or hunting or any of the content he makes, you have to respect how well he talks and how open to everything he is. Hard to explain
reason i’m proud of my country even though i was born here, my father was an immigrant that always taught me that i am extremely lucky to be from this country because the rest of the world does not allowed freedom like this one does.
Rinella hasn't changed a bit since I was first introduced to him way back, stand up guy who's values were true enough that he never even had to think about it. Agree or not that's very rare
Joe, I think you should do a podcast where you sit down and talk to Jamie and we get to know all about him. Be really cool to have one of the celebrities be the guy that pulls up things, good idea for April fool’s day!

Alot of hunting shows put a bad taste in my mouth, but not rinellas. I love the way he portrays hunting and fishing. Leaves me feeling proud to be a hunter myself. Well done gentleman 👏
He actually talks about this on his own meateater podcast. He goes over how he would feel if his kids never wanted to hunt or eat meat. He basically says "it would suck but I cant force them to do what they dont want to do." Ironically it was the episode where Joe joined the Meatereater, like episode 89 or something like that
Steve: “increasingly you get...scrutinized in the media. Is it hard to tune it out?” Joe *thinks about the 100 million S “No. It’s easier than ever.” Steve* laughs becuase he knows the 100 million is the reason.
