It's not good to think about it like that. If Yoel started sooner; his body would also have a lot more mileage on it that it does now, so even if he was more skilled, the blow to his chin and athleticism would have been felt by now.
@@EE-ie9gm odd how Yoel is one of a kind and you cant find others guys his age doing the things he does lol yes he is roided but he is skilled and works hard im sure your the type to think roids make you a good fighter or that strong lol you still gotta work but he def is not top tier due to peds he is just really good mid
@@EE-ie9gm nah I don’t think he’s on Peds currently,, but during the Cuban programs as a kid they definitely fed him all kinds of shit to be genetically superior, similar to how the dagestanis all get fed ‘vitamins’ as kids. Some steroid effects are just don’t go away like muscle recovery etc etc… so that’s probably why he’s abnormal currently. Cuba,Russia and china are a some of the most dirtiest countries in the world they would do anything to win in the Olympics. That’s why many of their athletes get caught up in steroid usage and Russia got banned.
I met Yoel around 2013ish down in Florida at the Deerfield Walmart on Hillsboro and 441. I was a huge fan of him since the Sydney Olympics. I kept staring at him and finally approached him and told him in Spanish that he looked exactly like this Cuban Wrestler and he laughed and said it was him. I was so stoked. Shook his hand and it was different. Just a man made outta wood. Super nice dude though. Soft spoken and has a good energy.
You know how I know thi is fake as hell, the location is to accurate, and the way you said I was staring at him and finally approached like that's the most fake sounding shit ever
This guy RIGHT NOW is getting ready to fight for the Bellator World Title. He STILL isn't done at all! This guy will forever be one of the most talented human beings to walk the face of the earth. God really did bless him with special physical gifts.
@@lennaymaboyyy4848 depends on Romero's gameplan, If Phil got caught by Romero's punch and it's all over for him and Phil got lucky that he win but I kinda excited for vadim vs yoel
Evidently, he's also incredibly well spoken in his native language as well. One of his trainers and a few others have referred to him as a Warrior Poet and I think that's dope.
Yeah we Spanish speakers know Cubans very rarly are ilitirate even tho they have that "poverty" the ones u guys compare the real Cubans with are the one u guys have spawn 😅
@@MannyGrey its true as in he's real mannered and proper in Spanish when he talks. U could say "high class" pronounces all the words fully, pauses doesnt just ramble, no slang proper/real words only, no cursing, etc.
I took a picture with Yoel during the week before his first fight with Whittaker. I put my arm on his shoulder to take a picture, I've never felt a human being with muscles like that in my entire life. His shoulder felt like putting your arm on an oak table. Not in any way exaggerating. He was like a bodybuilder flexing as hard as he can while he was completely relaxed. I have no clue how the fuck he made 185 and I have no clue what they injected into that guy in Cuba but it really worked and is still working lol
Luke lost to Jan at LHW and did decent against Paulo despite having a staph infection, he's just getting old and always been a bit chinny. Weidman tho legit never looked the same after that cuban missle flying knee imo
Wrestlers have the strength that just can't be replicated by lifting. It's so transferrable just by mastering bodyweight. It works. Yoel is a prime example of it
@@robschanaynay3500 even in case of natty wrestlers they're usually stronger than weightlifters that are their size. stronger in a sense that their strength is more usable in day to day life or fighting
I remember that Yoel podcast. Listening to him talk about life in Cuba was just utterly mind blowing. Joey's translation was also on point. That was one of my favorite podcast I highly recommend you go listen to it, I promise you will not be disappointed.
@@pablocaicedo9941 it wasn't a true translation, but it was a perfect Joey Diaz translation. My favorite moment was when Yoel goes "Claro que si" and Joey goes "Oh fuck yeah" I burst out laughing
Romero’s knockout of Weidman was my favourite finish for a LONG TIME. Every time i’d see someone shoot for a takedown, i never understood how people weren’t eating knees more often
He used to live in Germany, spoke to a high level wrestler out of Eastern Europe that trained with him and he said that Romero is a man made of steel 🦸🏿♂️
I trained martial arts with a man who was in the Cuban Special forces Black Wasps. He talked about how they turned you into an animal. His muscles were hard as steel.
@@RoyalBlood1444 You might like to know the rest of the story. His father was a professor in Cuba. He talked to his son about what was happening to him. Because of his respect for his father, he left the special forces and changed his life. It didn't happen overnight, but he eventually came to the US with nothing but a very good work ethic. Now he has a very successful martial art business and a family. He has even managed to bring his parents here from Cuba. His muscles are still hard as steel, but he is more of a hugger than a killer, lol
Imagine if they got him to wrestle. He is already world-champion level and he doesn't even use the best tool he has. Imagine if Mike Tyson became world champion whilst not throwing that right hand. If Yoel did wrestle, he'd mop the floor with everybody. There's no one who beats him, nobody. The only threat I see to him is Alex Pereira, but I feel as though a Yoel Romero who actually uses his wrestling just dominates him on the floor and paints the octagon with Alex's blood.
@@gregoryretzepis1798 Probably because he has a horrible balance for a wrestler. He keeps falling all over the octagon. How is he gonna control his opponent when he can't even control himself
@@gregoryretzepis1798 he had a neck surgery which fused his vertebrae or something. I read about it years ago. Basically, he is risking paralysis if he tries to wrestle and has to rely on striking. Imagine still going out to fight with such a risk. Dude is a savage like no other.
@@whatt57that's insane dude. Yoel is just built different. I've always thought he was great. Would've been awesome if he joined the UFC like 7 years earlier than he did. Would've been champion no doubt.
2:25 to 2:30 Imagine how Weidman felt.. Look how heavy his head gets rocked! Its not only the knee from Yoel.. its also what happend while he went down! He must have felt like being in a car crash and thats literally IT!
Jorge seems like a very grounded, logical, and articulate guy….and also one of those guys that if he likes you, he’s a friend for life, but he’s probably the last guy you would want to get cross ways with.
33 and love you all for your inspiration along with many marshal artists. To battle bullying and the streets. To be a better person and defend the freedoms of your family.
I met Javon "The Freak" Kearse and it was like meeting a monster, but he was the nicest guy you could ever meet. And I'm 6'4" and 245 lbs at the time, and I'm about 33 yrs old. When I shook Javon's hand, it was like shaking hands with a steel creature. He was also on crutches at the time as he was recovering from an injury he sustained in the NFL. He told me the only reason he was on crutches still is that the team doctors misdiagnosed his injury and had the wrong treatment. The veins and ligaments I could see through his skin with the muscle is something I could never attain if I was to do steroids from birth. It was literally like a human race horse, I was in shock. And I knew high level athletes in college. He was a genetic "freak" like Romero. Look at Jon Jones, he isn't a freak to look at, but look at his NFL brothers and what they have achieved. If you have good genetics AND a good work ethic, LOOK OUT. The NFL is full of these guys. MMA in 30 years will be CRAZY!!!!!!!!!
@@kavishurethireswaran2748 Izzy ran away for the whole fight, Paulo Costa fight was very close, and Romero won the second fight against Robert. Also it doesn’t hurt his legacy since he got into MMA at his late thirties anyways.
@@kavishurethireswaran2748 I wouldn't say he was a gatekeeper arguably beat Costa in that close fight and Israel wasn't engaging that much so it wasn't just Yoel. Gatekeepers are guys like Dan hooker. Guys with a big name at are getting finished more than they are winning fights.
