This is our 2nd shoot with Roadster Shop and it just keeps getting better with these guys. Joe Rogan's Sick Fish Cuda has had a lot of years of not being a reliable driving vehicle but that has seriously changed since RS got their hands on it...the exterior was left as is because Rad Rides by Troy nailed it but all mechanical has been dealt with including a full RS chassis underneath, a brand new Avant Garde interior and that glorious Mercury Racing SB4 engine making 750 high revving naturally aspirated horsepower! This is one of the finest builds I've ever seen, ridden in and driven so sit back and enjoy the ride...

What I like about this episode is how many big names/companies were acknowledge & given credit. I feel like I rarely see that within the modified world in USA

I agree, coming from Ireland where someone will see a car on RU-vid and know who painted the rims separate to the engine bay, who was fabricating for the car etc. It really is a shame because of all the gems hidden around the states that need a guy who knows a guy

UK has a close knit restoration community, there's a hive of great skills and minds in places like Coventry and Oxfordshire, and a lot of other places out of the way. They generally support and recommend each others work, but the down side of this is a closed shop, new guys have a hard time getting into the 'magic circle'!.

@@HaroldLightingdale A lot of guys here in the US don't want customers telling people who did their shit, or at least not being loud about it. Because they're typically backed up for years on end with other commitments they know they might never get to around to anyways. People hear about a project a specific shop/person did and all the sudden everyone with more money than brains wants some insane project done on their car from them specifically.

A little Googling confirmed what my memory was telling me from watching the episode of "Rides" so many year ago and this car was Designed by Chip Foose and then Built by Troy. I wonder why they didn't mention Chip's name at all in this video. I wonder if there's some controversy in this story.

@@seanjohnfits a few years ago there was a big thing about Chip and Troy building a car for Joe, and it sucked to drive, according to Joe. He was joking around when he said it, but there was some truth to it. Chip and Troy don't design/build daily drivers, they build show cars you can drive. Roadster shop builds things to be more drivable, and to show car levels of fit, finish, etc. Not many people are going to daily drive a car with a $40k paint job. I am not taking away from any of them, they are far beyond my skill level in building cars, and I learn a lot from watching them work. Also get some cool ideas from their builds. I build daily drivers, dirt cheap compared to these guys, I spend less than $2k painting one of mine and I don't mind chips and scratches in them, they are built to drive every day. Its a completely different mindset with those big shops, and seeing their paint work alone in person makes me feel like a monkey throwing poo at vehicles. Of course I build things for me, not for customers. They have their own thing they do, usually show cars and drivability isn't high on the list... and technology advances after the build is done.

Back in the early 2000’s Foose was seemingly doing two-tone on everything he designed then. Was never a fan of that as IMHO it would end up being a time stamp……aka tying the car to a period of time. When Joe saw the car in bare steel that’s what convinced him to go with Silver and he was right to do so even though others disagreed with his choice. Single tone in simple colors never goes out of style.

Not to knock Joe but I will say this. At the time of delivery the car had to meet the tv show deadline and didn't get the shakedown it probably needed. I personally know Troy always built cars that could be driven without issue. The other thing to consider is , after delivery, how was the car driven? Enthusiastically or pounded like a rented mule? One person's expectation of how a car can be treated might be different from how it was requested to be built.

Man I've watched 3 vids of your guys builds the Grand National that is now my personal dream car in roadster shop guise, the 70 Camaro which has been my dream car since before I was a gear head and this 'cuda which is the Herculean Holy Grail in all things that roll and drink Dino juice. Based on these builds you're hands down the best shop anywhere. Granted I haven't seen all the shops but the bar is set beyond high. And one more thing THANK YOU for not committing the most disrespectful and deadliest sin in the automobile industry in my book and anyone that is a true gear head, grease monkey, wrench rebel, good ole boy or car nut will agree. THANK YOU for not building trailer queens. There's nothing worse than building a work of vehicular art and seeing it being pulled behind a truck, unless there's something that broke or it's getting delivered to a customer. Cars and especially muscle cars but not limited to those great cars are meant to be driven. I've heard I don't want to hurt it or I want it to stay running right, if you don't drive them they break down faster and more catastrophic when you let them sit. So again thank you for not committing the biggest sin in the kingdom of cars. The second biggest sin is babying it or putting around not ever getting above 50mph or 3k rpm. Thank you for driving them and driving them as a car of that quality of build should be. The Grand National is still my favorite and will be for a long time if not for ever so thank you for being true car guys and giving me a new dream car. And even doing what you've done and what you've accomplished it seems like you're just good down to earth guys who would be a blast to hang out with.🤯👍🏆😁 keep wrenching and making these masterpieces of motion

A 70 Cuda’s Is my number one on the list, having owned and rebuilt one to a Pro Touring type of driver it just has all the boxes checked! This one when I first saw it being revealed by Joe Rogan stopped me in my tracks, beyond mind bending, seeing this redone version by the RS crew brings it to another level! It sounds brutal down in lower range; but the sound of an exotic in the upper rev range the Mercury motor has the best of both sides of that spectrum. The interior details and fit and finish of all the touch points are exceptional, I could go on for days about everything I love about it. Shawn other than your brother’s black 70 Cuda this is the car I would build and drive the wheels off, thank you for sharing this !

The car is absolutely stunning, it`s good to be Joe Rogan, I follow his podcasts, the thought and effort that went into frame work is incredible, and keeping the interior some what stock looking, but upgraded to modern times, the interior is a work of art in itself, I love stock and stock ride height, but lets face it, you put a monster hemi in these Cuda`s and they were a handful to drive, the stance is absolutely perfect, and it looks like a pleasure to drive, hats off to the body work and tucked bumpers and rear deck lid, those panels are dead flat, love the color as well, sick fish is spot on.

Roadster Shop has immediately jumped to the highest echelon of my own personal list of elite custom auto design and building outfits. Shawn, these episodes from RS are sheer lunacy -- I can't get over how brilliant these builds are. It comes down to REFINED TASTE. They simply have a more evolved and sophisticated notion of what goes into a comprehensive and cohesive build, and the results are manifestly obvious -- exquisitely executed rocketships that look and move like few other vehicles... Bespoke builds that are as unique as they are stunning, with looks that are matched only by their performance. I can go on and on, but the words don't do the cars justice. I'm just glad you guys did this run at Roadster Shop.. This series of episodes is going to be remembered for a long time to come. Thanks again to all who were involved... Thanks for reinvigorating my passion for all things cars. After decades of doing this stuff, sometimes it can be hard to find things that really speak to you and inspire your love for the art and the craft. This series of episodes certainly helped provide a needed booster shot of inspiration and wonder.

wow good to see sick fish again, i rememered when it got build. And they had a 3 color combo choosen for that car. but during the build joe rogan came to check it out, and the car was just in sheetmetal. he say he wanted it like that. just 1 color and clear coat. never regret that choice ever since. very sick hemicuda aka Sick Fish!

That shot with them making the left at the traffic light! I just about rolled out of my chair over how fucking beautiful that thing is. The wheel/tire proportion, lack of roll, the stupid Cuda/Challenger profile taken up five notches, just awe! That might be the most badass custom car I’ve seen as far as all around perfection. I’ve seen others I’d prefer as far as look, and heritage, like that Torino awhile back, yet this thing…..honestly it made me cry a little bit over its beauty. No bullshit I had to rewind that turn at the light like four times and wipe my eyes twice!! Yeah. I’m in deep, baby. Deeep.
