Joe Strummer was honest, ballsy and down to earth. Not to mention, intelligent, talented and gorgeous. Miss you. The Clash isn't the same without you and music now is just sh@$e . RIP. Hope to see you in Heaven. ♡
This is why I really love Joe such a beautiful incredible talented soul down to earth soul always. He isn't truly gone ever cause Joe is a legend that lives on forever. I love his calm voice and just the way Joe talks and his wise words.
What an amazing man.Honest.Cant say enough good things about Joe.The type of person that comes along once in a lifetime.Im saying warts and all.Very easy for me to say the Clash will always be my favorite band and Strummer/Jones the best songwriters ever.
Brutally honest and slightly sad interview. I wish the Clash had managed to get back together at some point. You can tell Joe realised his mistake very early on, but got stuck with his decision. Mick needs a large part of the blame too, he was on his own schedule and ego trip and seemed to have little interest in anything Joe or Paul did or wanted to do. The Clash were the first band I liked as a kid in 1991, when Should I stay or should I go and Rock the casbar got re-released after the Levis advert. I was really sad when I learned these were old songs from a band that had broken up years ago.
There’s a couple interviews where Topper also shows remorse for his actions leading to his eventual ejection too. Really one of the most tragic ends to a band where they all share a bit of blame with why the band ended but later felt guilt and reconciled separately. A shame they never got to reunite one last time before Joes untimely death, just a few months before their Hall of Fame induction
r.i.p joe...you are so missed...your music touched many...and changed my life...i was so lucky to see the london calling tour. :) my tribute to the clash can be found on my channel...plz have a listen and if so inclined, leave a comment.
Joe Strummer was so talented - not to mention sexy. I wish I could've been around when the Clash were in their prime, but unfortunately Joe died when I was 8...
Who hasn't Rotten criticized? Like I admire his dgaf attitude but part of me wonders "is Johnny genuinely that pissed off and sour all the time or is this his chosen public persona he feels he has to act?"
funny, awesome stuff. What sucks interviews with Joe like these, not much seen when shoulda been when he was around.Might've enlightened more from the left and right on being decent to all.Cheers
Maybe I ate too many edibles, but I was starting to wonder what the hell I clicked on there in the beginning. Great interview, though, my heart kind of broke at how quick he was to enthusiastically say he wanted to get The Clash back together. I believe if he had lived longer they would have reformed and really enjoyed it.
@ThatGirlTyson wow, my thoughts written by someone else, maybe not the gorgeous man bit, but he was, is still a fucking hero in my eyes. much love to you and the man himself.
That's interesting that he says he would have got The Clash back together - glad it didn't happen though. Let's face it, if he'd have lived longer they probably would have done - except for the impeccable examples of The Jam and The Smiths, every other fucker has done.
This is so painful to watch knowing Joe is so remorseful over what happened to his legendary band. Clearly they could have kept going making amazing records had Topper not been kicked out, Mick, egos, etc.
+Tomboy91xoxo True. I think an absence of cigarettes probably would've given us a few more years of Joe as well as a Clash reunion tour in the early 2000s :(
Joe ....indeed had good looks...but jj burnel was the real deal , even straight punks fancied him in a non-sexual way....tough as they come and really nice dude , b idol had the looks but no brain.....
Wish I could Delete my comment .......lot more careful what I and I say now , just to say I saw the clash and stranglers , Damned etc 78 - 83 and and wot a great time it was now all us young punks are 50 ish . /
