JOE HAS BEEN MY ROLE MODEL FOR YEARS BECAUSE HE EMBODIES MY MISSION: REGULAR PEOPLE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD THROUGH UNRELENTING DEDICATION TO THE TRUTH. Today is the best day of my life other than my son being born and marrying my wife. Thanks Joe
The exercise is called a reverse Nordic curl, crazy quad and hip flexor workout. Not much hamstring involved though 😂 the tradition Nordic curl is way more hamstrings
Stretching is VITAL for grappling. Truly elevated my game once I began working on my flexibility. It hurts at first but then you just fall into routine and it feels good overall. Get hurt way less as well. I don’t think there’s one sport out there that doesn’t benefit from stretching daily, everyone should truly do it.
As an aspiring Olympic weightlifter, I am so fucking happy that you know what is up with this guy. Everyone who doesn't know what they're talking about will say any _____ or _____ is unsafe & not correct. Time after time, super humans/top level athletes/entrepreneurs/PEOPLE prove each other wrong & he is a prime example of that.
crazy i just started his program this week, now i'm hearing about it on JRE. really impressive product, and the marketing is almost as impressive. i don't know how much of this was on purpose but it's truly insane to see how fast this information is spreading. this is the new wave. increasing one's athleticism is dope.
"this is the new wave" All this information was already out there. All Kneesovertoes did was cherry pick the stuff he needed and combine it into one place. Its not like he invented any of the ideas he's using.
@@adamkee3648 that makes no sense at all. you're not actively pulling yourself down with hamstrings, you're resisting the downward pressure with your quads.
I bet Derrick Rose could still benefit from this training. I think everyone would. This would solve a lot of people suffering sciatica pain. It probably would correct the imbalances in the glutes, and psoas which get irritated, swell and pinch down on the nerve bundle causing sciatica nerve pain. Hip flexors would benefit as well.
Can confirm. 6 weeks into adapting KOTG into my training and it has transformed my knees. I'm a 13-year parkour athlete and 20-year personal trainer and athletic coach. This stuff is the truth. Our knees are designed for this, we just don't train it. Ben Patrick has given us the blueprint. Can't recommend enough.
@@drchef9544 great information. It's true, a lot of Ben's stuff is old knowledge being "dusted off", and I've used lots of these movements for years, but they way he's programmed it - the order of operations, so to speak - is, for me, kind of revelatory. And it's given me a renewed apprecation for Poliquin, who got so much right.
Non of them cut out shit from the pod. Spotify is better bc now they can say whatever and even listen to some audio like the old days bc RU-vid was implementing too many rules
@@goatpepperherbaltea7895 yeah you post a video you better make sure no songs are playing. B/c they don't believe in free use. It's like I've listened to this like 15 times on the radio why should I have to pay for it? Umm? right?
yeah, his mum and dad went out on a limb to Christen him with that name but luckily it paid off when he started showing an interest in all the knee and toe stuff at college
@meow purr hes about lengthening the muscles an then giving you strength for that length. takes a lot of pressure off of the knee. so you could say that they take pressure off of the cartilage, less stress on ligaments and bones
@@tracem98 a stabilizing role is different than being the prime mover, otherwise the squat would basically be an ab exercise. But we don't refer to it as such because it's mostly quads and glutes that are involved. Anyway, I think they mistook the movement for a Nordic curl, I also thought that was it for a second because Nordics are so much more widespread than this.
Knees over toes is quite important for running, because if you land your foot Infront of your knee you're going to be exerting a braking force with each step
@@goncalo1485 I'm nobody special, but I lost a decent amount of weight over the quarantine from running, and I would definitely recommend the stretching. I probably ran without stretching for like 1.5 months and even though I could run miles, there were always nagging pains that made me stop short. Once I started stretching, you definitely notice the difference in your workout and results. Good luck
You mean the part where he’s bending at the knees, getting his back almost to the ground, and butt to feet? Yea.... everywhere from the knees up to the ab and back muscles is being used in that clip. Including the hammies. 🙄
@@itsjess2728 no they're not. 🙄 They may be shortening but that doesn't mean they're being activated. The quadriceps are the predominant muscles being used in this exercise. Both concentricly and eccentricly. Saying this is a hamstrings exercise would be like saying the bench press is a back exercise because you're shortening your back muscles.
@@anjaninator You'll feel them but they are barely being worked, a passive stabiliser at best. That is without question a quad dominant exercise. I've done it before and never had sore hamstrings afterwards, the mechanics of the movement don't make sense to have hamstrings working to any significance.
@@boomerang-digital8514 He has something about shoulder mobility I think, but his name is “Kneeovertoesguy” he doesn’t really focus on upper body mainly lower
cona yel his program is so difficult, if you complete, your knees will be bulletproof. I’m @ 25% and can see a difference in strength and durability. I’m and old dude at 46yrs.
That split squat thing helped me so much. I'm 24 and I pick up recycling as a loader so up and down all day on to the back of a truck step, we got new trucks with steps just a little higher but that was enough to irritate my knee. The first morning I did the split squat I could literally feel my knee getting better as I was doing them, one week I already feel more powerful and less stiff
@@user-us4mc7ej3c yes my legs feel stronger then they ever have, especially after a couple Weeks when your body adjust, i feels good to walk that’s how much it helped
Thank you! I scanned comments to see if I had to be the one to mention this. Impressive sure, but not flexors, not hams, but quads to do a leg extension.
What do you mean lol, the quads are concentricly contracting as the prime mover but the hamstings and glutes are being used a fair amount isometricly to keep the hips locked in extension. Some hamstrings function as knee flexors and as hip extensors. Learn some exphys
@@wajihbec1087 For someone to say that this exercise focuses on the hamstrings is similar to saying that a dumbell curl focuses on the triceps, hence the callout. This exercise is a serious test of quad strength only. Glutes and abs mostly just hold the body position; they are not the muscles which are preventing anyone from completing a rep.
In the last month I've become a KneesOverToesGuy fanatic. The intersection of strength, power, speed, agility, flexibility and mobility is where he lives and his methodology can help athletes and weightlifters alike
@@soheal3674 Yes. His program and training philosophy apply to all levels of people from all backgrounds, even if you've never trained before and are completely out of shape. The focus is for full body longevity and health. The added athleticism comes in as a bonus to all that.
I got beaten up a couple of years ago and they stamped on my knees as part of the attack, I still struggle to walk up and down stairs and get up from a chair! Been doing physio, but this looks like it may be just want I need to properly strengthen my knees so I can function properly again!
Stay strong brother and let us know how it goes. I just heard about this channel and am dealing with chronic back pain, am going to start my first elephant steps today
I feel u bro i wasn't beaten up but i snapped my knee last year jumping off something when i was drunk and it cant even bend past 90 degrees. Its painful every single day dont forget to carry a knife everywhere so it dont happen again i carry a knife everywhere now i cant even run away
Haha. I recently saw that guy's vids. Was wondering if he'd go on Rogan or if Joe knew. For so long, we've been warned to keep our knees straight above the heel and not let our knees go forward when we do squats etc. Then as soon as I heard that guy explain it, it made perfect sense. The common wisdom of decades is all backwards (so many examples of this in all fields). And he agrees with the traditional experts that doing that is dangerous and stresses the knees. But his simple point (obvious in hindsight) is that we ought to do that to build up joint strength - slowly and carefully, of course.
I have been in the gym scene since the late 90s and it’s awesome how much knowledge and education has come along since then when it come to training the body....the gym used to be a dogmatic place with only one way being the right way.
Anyone else miss the full episodes on here? I mean that’s cool as fuck he got that deal but it’s just a little different now. I still enjoy his podcasts on Spotify tho
I reached out to kneesovertoesguy about a month ago and he was kind enough to chat with me about my specific case. I haven’t started the program yet but I was just so happy that he was able to actually respond to me personally. Such a nice guy!
Biomechanically, when you squat if your weight is in your heels then your gluts and hamstrings are more activated to eccentrically control the descent. If your weight is more in the balls of your feet then your quads are more eccentrically loaded which puts more stress on the patella-femoral jt The "Knees Over Toes Guy" can safely lunge with his knee far out ahead of his toes, in part, because his soleus m's is stretched enough so that his heel doesn't lift therefore less pressure in the front of his knee. I tell my clients to pay attention to where they are loading in their feet when they squat especially if they have knee issues. Love your show, Joe!
I’ve been doing this and the Conor touchbutt stuff since I was a kid thanks to some old Jet Li training vhs. The Chinese have known this shit since 2021 B.C. I was always insecure about it so I did it low key.
Yeah, I bought his program and is great! I have a completely GONE ACL. After 3 months No more knee pain, and I can walk all day and train martial arts! Get him on the PODCAST JO!👌
Wow. Really? Does it function like your other with no pain and no increased risk of reinjury? I tore my ACL a while back and didn't have $ for surgery. Your comment gives me some hope.
i found this guy yesterday and i could never walk up the stair without feeling pain in my knee (old track injury) after just a day doing exercises, i could feel muscle awakening that i've never felt before. Now i go up the stair without and pain, i haven't walked up the stair that strong in 10 years. I might go back to track and continue my Olympic dreams.
The knees over toes guy is legit. I've had terrible knee troubles through the years and I'm back to almost normal after 6 months or so. I can't wait to see what comes next.
Currently using his program to build up to dunking. It’s not just having an effect on my vertical, it’s building up my legs so my 40 year old arse doesn’t get injured every week while playing
I used the program for like 2 months, it caused severe swelling in my knee. The split squad and other extreme knees over toes stretches are way overboard. My doctors and PT’s tell me this is a total fraud. Joe rogan also endorsed bioptimizers which is a small company that recommends an extremely unhealthy amount of magnesium. That being said. There’s part of KOT guy that are good, most of his workouts are good. But for ME, it did more harm than good.
Maybe you should've started with an easier progression, as he said too. I have pretty weak and shitty knees but I won't directly start with kot split squats cause that's just stupid. You have to work it up until you get to the point you can do it weighted without any problems and can progressively overload it
@@dragos8839 I started with body weight and didn’t progress further. I like most of the workouts on his page but I’m siding with my personal doctors and licensed PT’s when it comes to the knees over toes craze.
