Anytime a police officer commits an atrocity like this and is sued, the damages should come from the police pension fund, not the tax payer.

@Brad1156 not quite though. Because that’s money the tax payer is already paying. So it’s really only the cops who lose there. Would certainly motivate cops to root out the ‘bad apples’ if it was their pension that was at risk when their colleagues break the rules

Adam, I've been saying that forever. And in my church, a good 20% of the people are police officers or secret service. Needless to say, we have had some powerful arguments during Bible Study when I say that (and trust, I say it CONSTANTLY!!!). *If damages came out of the pensions, that would immediately eliminate the silent wall of protection.*

That is good, but the police don't like that. There was a nurse in Utah who refused to draw blood on an unconscious patient for the police - she was following hospital protocol and showed the sheet to the officer - but was still taken away in cuffs and then the Lt told her why even though she told him why she couldn't draw the blood. I don't think the police cared that the blood couldn't be used in court. The sad part is the Admin knew what was going on, she had him on speakerphone but didn't come down and confront the police. She sued them and won $500,000 which she is using I believe to help those in a similar situation. The Police officer was fired and the Lt was demoted to a patrolman I think. I feel his pain. I’m ex military and was stationed in Norfolk Virginia. Believe it or not we got harassed by the local police on a regular. I was stopped at gunpoint by an officer for jaywalking, so he says. If I hadn’t been in front of the base there’s no telling what would have happened. They cuffed me and had me on the ground still at gunpoint searched my pockets through my wallet and the few bucks I had in my pocket. One of the guys standing watch at the gate called base police. When shore patrol pulled up asking questions they claimed I never notified myself as military although he was holding my military ID. Then cousin I matched the description of a suspect whom robbed a convenient store about a mile away from the base. Only reason I wasn’t arrested I believe is because whomever the sailor was called shore patrol and they showed up. I believe they were gonna charge me with whatever they wanted.

OF COURSE IT IS! There has been an organized effort on the part of serious white supremacists to COVERTLY permeate and control all facets of society since at least the 1950s. They knew it was getting harder and harder to be open with their agendas, so they started doing things in secret. Most ordinary white people have been going on about their business all these years without knowing this because they simply never had personal run-ins with those people. They always seemed surprised or blown away when they finally see it for themselves. Additionally, I know someone who worked for a psychiatrist who handled the profiles of the entire police force for a small city; and each one had at least three ore more psychological issues including narcissism, bipolar, issues with woman/ domestic abuser, paranoia, megalomania... you name it! We're convinced they were trying to harness these traits when they hired these people. None of this is new at all. It's just coming to light for most because we're able to video it now.

To go along with the other comment, I wonder if raising base pay might be a long term solution to this problem. I know it’s an extremely unpopular idea (for very good reason), but wouldn’t a higher pay rate or at least a different pay scale help in attracting better people to the job and to stay in the job? It seems anymore like not many want to be police officers and their left recruiting mostly trash from the bottom of the barrel. @@shakostarsun He couldn't exit the vehicle because the door was locked and he had his seatbelt on. In the full video you hear him raising concerns that if he brings his hands inside the car he will be shot. They were barking incompatible commands at him, "hands outside the car" and "get out of the car", and were ready to shoot if he did the wrong thing.

@@stefanossmitty3318 You can imagine they both flew off on unicorns. Imaginations can go wild. If it wasn't a well lit area, you turn your interior light on, the police have flashlights and you communicate what you're doing. It's not that hard unless you make it hard.

As a women, I have ALWAYS been told it was my right to drive to safety. Especially at night, I could drive to a well lit public place. I would advise my son to do the same.

This has always been my plan to. It makes sense. The cop cars in my small town were left parked outside the police station with keys in them. Anyone could take off with a police car. Also, anyone can put a flashing red light on their roof.

then you are a terrible mother. "its ok son, ignore the police sirens and scare them into thinking you are starting a police chase". "its ok son, if the police command you to exit the vehicle, kindly sit there with your pistol by your leg ready to murder those cops".

It also protects police officers from pulling people over on narrow dangerous dark roads from getting run over, and they can see the person they are pulling over a lot better too (it's just common sense for all involved). What really gets me is that these two are just trumped up little tyrants abusing their authority. The older officer Gutierrez has been fired, he was setting a horrible example for the younger officer (though he should be fired too).

I used to give law enforcement the benefit of the doubt, just like Joe apparently still does. Not anymore, though. My entire adult life experience has proven to me that they don't deserve it. Massive change to these institutions is necessary, and will hopefully come in short order.
