IMPACT METRICS
-Backpicks BPM is a proprietary model that focuses on player skill instead of situational value. It is box score only.
-PIPM is a hybrid model (box score and plus-minus) that "luck-adjusts" plus-minus data (regresses FT% and 3pt%) to account for noise and is more sensitive to a player's role/fit on a given team. Created by @JacobEGoldstein
-Luck-Adjusted RAPM is a pure plus-minus model adjusted for shooting luck, reducing some of the noise of single-season APM. It is most sensitive to role/fit of these three. Available at: nbashotcharts.c...

The knee injury is going to be a life long issue. I know he looked phenomenal in game 3 vs Raptors, but even when he's at his best, you can see it's giving him some issues. He's barely 2-3 inches of the ground when he goes for a 3. He launches himself on defense, but I think momentum going forward helps him there, along with taking it to the rim. When he takes a straight up and down jump shot from a complete stop, he doesn't look comfortable to me. He can make it work, but he seems to have trouble generating a lot of force to get vertical from a dead stop. It doesn't help that he has a lot of weight to get off the ground. Like I said, when he's running up from behind for a block or moving laterally, he seems to be able to use that momentum to his advantage. On that same token, when he's in the air and momentum is carrying him, he's at the mercy of gravity. He ends up on the floor sometimes, slamming in to the basket support, tripping over people, and though he gets to his feet fine, he doesn't do so at a breakneck pace and seems to do so awkardly at some moments. It's a shame, but if the rumors are correct that he needs multiple treatments daily just to maybe edge off enough pain to maybe possibly play, it isn't looking good. I'm not saying he's going to have a short career, but he's going to end up walking like Charles Barkley/Kenny Smith/Phil Jackson/grant hill/etc if he continues to play for years trying to perform as he could before.

It looks like Embiid needs to work with a defensive assistant like Ron Adams (currently with GSW). Subtle changes to his game like spreading his arms out/moving them around more on defense would make him so much better on that end. Ultimately, he needs to get in better shape to be able to stay on the court & keep working on his game.

Was hoping you could do a Jimmy Butler analysis some time. I feel like the man's game covers a lot on fundamental basketball that if you discount Jimmy's athleticism, his game is looks pretty mundane. BUT, the overall impact to the game is second to none. Similar to Tim Duncan but on a forward position. Like the fact that Butler's game cuts through the flashy plays of today should make it a topic of discussion.
