You know when you want to not like someone because their predecessor was your favourite, well that was me when Doug Aldrich left whitesnake. At first seeing Mr Hoekstra immediately how talent as a player wowed me in buckets loads because yes no one can deny the talents of this man but then........ I got to watching interviews with this man and not only is he an amazing player but turns out to be a fucking really nice, kind and humble fellow, never met him and never will that’s just my observation from watching interviews. Then you start on his instructional video clips and he even makes 4 finger right hand tapping look achievable because of the great way he approaches tuition, then....... you find this fricking clip, I’m completely sold, a fan and an admirer of your work sir, a true professional musician and wonderful performer there’s not many in this class and league left 🎸 🎸🎸🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
This is so inspiring! I've learned so much about not only playing guitar but also being a showman when playing live from watching your performances! I hope you keep posting videos, they're real gems!
Magnificent playing showing Joel's versatility on Guitar. Superbly done, JH! I read somewhere someone calling him The Striking Viking and the Norse Deity of Stringed Instruments or something to that effect. Very true! Amazing! I am listening to this repeatedly this morning.
Please don't joel wouldn't want to to give up that why he did this video to encourage you practice because the more you practice the better you become take it from a guy who's been teaching people how to play
It's playing like this that inspires me to want to play too!..and that's the way we should feel..not get envious and say damn..I'll never be able to do that! that's negative..JOEL is a Master, but he is modest, and would probably tell you, there's still things he could improve on...{I don't know what that would be} but he kicks major fucki'n ass dosen't he!...kudos for inspiring us all JOEL!
I come back here every now and then, and relive what it is like to be totally blown away like I was by seeing old Paul Gilbert or John Petrucci footage from the 80s and 90s in 2007 when I was 17. I thought I had seen and heard it all. Well dammit, at 30, Joel Hoekstra made me feel like I hadn't heard a good guitar solo in my life.
Officially a Joel Hoekstra fan after the Whitesnake show in "Hovet" Stockholm! Man you were awesome there! And your boots were visible all the way across the arena up to my spot! 🤣🤘🤘🤘
Whitesnake had 2 world class players who can play and do any style luckily for us all 1 is still there. Mr hoekstra is amazing. Check out his two instrumental albums also.
Joel will be doing two upcoming live Zoom Masterclasses 08/17 and 08/18 at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp. It looks so cool! www.rockcamp.com/masterclass.php
