I think Ellie did. The end of the game wasn’t as depressing as you think. From Ellie’s face, we can see she’s sad, but isn’t torn up as in the beginning. She goes off to probably find purpose or reunite with the family

She’s done letting Joel’s death control her life and fate, she’s moving on from letting it drag her down. And the fact that she’s wearing the “for luck” bracelet that Dina gave Ellie in Seattle shows that she’s hopeful.

I think the promises at sundown could also be in reference to the sunset moment in the first game outside Jackson when Joel for the first time shows explicit affection tomorrow and promises to take care of her.

@@harrytucker6720 I took this to be a reference to: 1. The fact that Joel played Future Days for Ellie, and taught her how to play this song and the guitar in general 2. Their last conversation. It happened at sundown (or night, at least), and in it Ellie told Joel that she would be willing to try and forgive Joel. She essentially made him that promise, and she means it.

@@timsonss the rest I believe just refers to other promises or actions. Since it specifies "all the promises at sundown" the rest could be other promises or promises fulfilled already? Those specific promises could have more significant meaning, hence why they clarified that they meant them

MatiZ815 please. We’re living a pandemic and people are trying to find a vaccine for how long? 6 months now? And we have EVERYTHING that’s necessary for finding it. In TLOU they didn’t. And how could they make a vaccine for the whole planet in those conditions? It’s obvious that it wasn’t 100% sure that the vaccine would have worked. Because it takes more than trying once to find it. And it would’ve taken more than one immune person. Not to talk about the fact that the doctor didn’t think twice about killing Ellie, but do you think he would’ve done the same if it were about his daughter? No. He would’ve hid her immunity. Just like Joel and Ellie did.

I'm going to really miss Joel, he has been one of the few characters in anything like this I've really cared about. I was angry at first when I found out he gets killed but after playing through the game I can understand the choices both Ellie and Abby made along their journeys, I don't have to like them but I can understand them. But I've never in my life had feelings from a game like I did this one. I was so angry at the end (because of the empty house). I want confirmation that Ellie and Dina are happy! This is a full circle for me. I fell in love with that song because of the game. I couldn't stop thinking about the game and the song for so long. Eventually, I bought a guitar and started learning to play it only for that song. After I succeeded I finally could continue and leave the game behind. Now, this appeared in my recommendation and it makes me so emotional.

Agreed. This is the only piece of media that actually made feel so much emotion that it was almost overwhelming. Even as a massive Marvel and MCU fan, even Infinity War and Endgame didn't have this effect on me. That definitely says a lot, because although nobody seeing this knows me personally, I am a massive Marvel/MCU fan so me being more emotional about this franchise? Trust me, it says *_a LOT._*

Sometimes I listen to this and it helps me feel a bit at peace for how sad I'd feel. This makes me feel like I'm at home, the blue foggy nights with rain on the roof. The soft music playing to help me relax makes me feel at home. I love that feeling even if I'm sad :)

I am literally crying over this masterpiece. R.I.P. Joel. I am gonna miss you a lot. This might be the only game that has ever made me feel like this. Feel warm and sad. But its another kind of sadness. The kind that makes you realise that every moment counts. Sad, happy, furious moments... Every moment counts and you should always live it to the edge. Don't waste your live. Live with your family. Family is the only thing that can make you feel pure love. And to tell the truth family is not your parents or your siblings. It's the people you really love and appreciate. The people that can make you feel loved and special among others in the universe. Thats what I wanted to say about this awesome life teaching video game. I will miss them all.

TLOU 1 was about what love can do to someone. Not true love but pure love, Joel was a bitter, miserable, lost soul who wanted nothing to do with Ellie calling her “baggage.” And as the game progressed their walls started breaking down and by the end of the game she was his “baby girl” and we see Joel in a whole new light, a man with purpose, smiling, making jokes, and saving a life he at first didn’t care too much about because it was another pay day. TLOU2 showed what revenge and hate can do to someone, it destroyed Ellie’s life and she was literally and metaphorically missing parts of herself because of revenge and hate, it did the exact opposite of what the first game did. She found a sense of happiness and love with Joel and Dina but her hatred and vengeance took away her ability to play guitar, something Joel taught her and one of the few things she did to reconnect with him, and drove Dina, and her family away.

How many times i thought 'naughty dog wtf are you doing there', especially in Joels scene, but i like it that way. They could've made a far better game going more stereotypically about it like Joel still makes it somehow, but no. Ellie is left with never bonding together with Joel again, watching him being brutally slaughtered days after finally trying to forgive him. I believe someone who is going through loosing someone close to cancer or other fucked up stuff life throws at you could take a lot from this brutally cold game. Naughty dog has some big ass balls, nobody can denye that im sure of because theres no way they didnt know that there'd be millions of players not happy about this game. It doesnt really feel like a game that wants to make you happy, i guess that's why so many people hate the game. (i know that theres plenty other reasons dont teach me about them), yes i posted this comment on some comment section but i wrote so much i wanted to post it as a normal comment too.
