It is so wonderful to see you back. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Glad you have moved closer to family. They are always a huge comfort in time like these. Crafting is also very good at easing us through emotional pain and discomfort. One day at a time. The first year is always the most difficult to get through.

Hello, Thank you for stopping by and your kind words. This is such a unique time now for me. . During my life, aside from a brief period of time between marriages, I have basically never lived alone. But as you said, one day at a time. I am considering looking for a new craft to explore. I let you know how that works out. :)

I was truly thrilled when I saw your Insta post announcing you had a new podcast up. Your new home is lovely. You have such a talent for creating beauty in both your surroundings and your crafting. I think those two colors you showed on that last project would pair very nicely together. As I watched, I imagined hearing Ross in the background cracking witty remarks. Those of us who knew and loved him through your podcast will always remember him. Feel free to speak of him as often as brings you comfort. When I lost my previous husband to an accident, I felt such a need to speak of him to keep his memory alive, but so often, those around me would quickly change the subject, thinking to avoid my sadness, which only increased it. I look forward to more future podcasting by you!

Hello Renna :) Thank you. I completely understand what you mean by people wanting to protect you from grieving feelings that are perfectly normal during this time. I went through that when my son passed away. At that time I did join a grief group and it was quite helpful to have a safe space to express our feelings.

Hello Lynda, this is my first video with you that landed on my feed, and I'm very heartened to have stumbled upon this. First of all.. my condolences, Lynda. Please take it easy on your heart, and while time doesn't really, with time, and the routines that keeps us going, as long as we are going, the memories are alive within us. It's always surprising how much comfort these crafts can bring, and now and then, knitting or crocheting do bring its little piece of calm. Hearing you what you shared and simply being around with your podcast does resonate a little. The repetition of stitches and exploring a little does help to preserve a bit of constant to turn back to amidst the changes and losses. I do wonder if the green will add a nice touch to the hand dyed yarn. Congratulations to another grandson, Dante is adorable! Thank you for sharing your journey with us, please stay warm, and looking forward to your next podcast at your pace and comfort. Warmest regards your way.

Thank you for your condolences. One of the things I learned about myself while taking care of Ross during the last 5 years was the strength I possessed. Love is quite a force. He always encouraged my crafting. He was quite proud of my accomplishments and would brag about them to everyone. I think about that often as I sit and knit. Thanks for tuning in :)

Hari OM So good to see and hear you again, Lynda! Your scarves are lush and I will have to try that stitch myself. I think the dark teal would work okay with that cranberry yarn if kept to a minimum line here and there - a little like the small shawl you wore today. Working the yarns is indeed a meditative act and definitely distracting, if not, indeed, healing. Do stay with us and share more! YAM xx

Lynda, I can feel the heartbreak in your voice. Knitting and crochet has always brought me much comfort and I encourage you to continue crafting - it’s like eating an elephant which feels insurmountable but it’s really only one bite (day) at a time! Hello Michelle, Thank you. So nice to meet you. I have been knitting and crocheting for most of my life. It has gotten me through some tough times. And also plenty of joyous occasions too :) Years ago I was working at a new job and was quite overwhelmed. My desk was quite frightful with stacks of unfinished projects. My boss took me aside and acknowledged that I was struggling. He gave me the best advice by asking me the question: "Do you know how to eat an elephant?" :)

Hello Elise. Thank you. Caring for Ross with dementia was one of the hardest and heartbreaking times I have experienced in my life. Having memories of his struggle with the disease haunts me more than his passing. I know you know. It's been 13 years since my son passed away. That was extremely hard. And as time goes by, I have to say that although the pain of his passing is still there, it has dulled somewhat. And yes, the people around me continue to be a big bearhug!

Hello Gayle. Thank you. I did have a nice sized stash. It's much more manageable now because I basically stopped buying. Fortunately I have a great spare room/guest room/office/craftroom closet. It is arranged with shelves. Right now I have my yarn stored in those soft bins you can get at the dollar store. Mostly sorted by yarn weight and fiber content. Maybe next podcast I'll give a peek into the closet. :)
