What the *#@&? Is this for real? He's not a child prodigy he's from another planet we don't know of, he's from another dimension. How is it possible for a 10 year old to interpret jazz that way when he's barely experienced life. Jazz comes from the soul, the spirit, the feel and is channeled through his fingers at whatever you're feeling at the time, it just comes to you from deep inside, this is absolutely out of this world. I don't think we really know what we have here.
Nice and Easy Thank you for this comment, we're really exited about his talent too! Just to be factual, he's 11 years old, but that doesn't make it less extraordinary. We hope he will continue to shine & develop.
Nice and Easy I so agree, this boy makes the concepts 'prodigy' and 'phenomenon' seem as though they have met their match, and then he's such a healthy well-adjusted-appearing boy/person in addition. My world is a better place knowing about this boy and listening to him play. We are all fortunate indeed to witness him.
Thank You Joey and Thank You to The Standard Jazz club for making these concerts possible,,,I am stunned by his talent! there is hope for the future of music!
+morgaffi This has been my year for discovering jaw dropping performances by children. It began with Maddie Ziegler dancing to "Chandelier," followed by Mariangeli Hitstreak singing "Skyfall," followed by Angelina Jordon singing, well, EVERYTHING, and now Joey Alexander. I can no longer tie my own shoes either.
Absolutely stunning. This kid at his age does thing experienced player cannot dream of. And no music sheets at all, pure improvisation. Joey si supernatural
Roberto Ballati Supernatural is a good word for it Roberto, we do a lot at the club to ensure that the level of improvisation is high. Thanks for watching, and make sure to subscribe since we have a lot more coming soon.
Except technical problem with the audio, I really enjoy the musical instrument intimate conversation among the musician, the fact of one of them is 10 years old boy is really hard to apprehend ....just amazing nice jam
yes he is. If Mozart had been born now, would he compose and perform classical music, or would it have been jazz? I think jazz is as vibrant today and what we now call classical music was in Mozart's time.
Che sia un precoce pianista, non ci piove.E' bravissimo-un senso del tempo impressionante-Difetta solo di repertorio standard- Le sue scelte dei brani, non sono poi così felici.-Ma diamogli tempo, ha solo 13 anni.
I am FLIPPED out. I saw him on 60 minutes tonight & had to go look for mo Joe!!!! I have NEVER liked jazz...not a bit. (Sorry guys..') But this young guy has me craving his tunes!! When was this performance? He looks younger here than the one at Lincol+ Center when he was 10. WOOOOWWW!!!!!
I know a lady pop pianist who HATES Jazz, but digs Joey, just like you. I hope both of you use him as a "gateway drug" and learn to actually dig Jazz, regardless of who is playing it, how old they are or what gender, color, height, etc. they are. Jazz is the real deal!
Denny Nadhil Praseco Rio Haryanto is the best Indonesian / South East Asian racer. Just compare Rio Haryanto vs Pascal Wehrlein (Manor) and Marcus Ericsson vs Pascal Wehrlein (Sauber).
I just knew Joey would handle swing just as well as everything he does. Pity about the poor sound on this, but Joey still shines in spite of that. Great backing too!
Andrea Faré I've always been a believer in a Natural World but after listening to Joey for a while it almost seems like somebody from the past is living inside of him. Yes, a bit scary!
Andrea Faré thanks Andreas, yes it makes one believe that talent is a factor outside time itself. Thanks for watching and commenting, we hope you'll be hanging around for future concerts.
