Known contemporary composer, songwriter and alternative musician Joey Ayala, together with his band Bagong Lumad (New Native), makes use of indigenous instruments to create their original songs. If you're not yet familiar with his music, watch this exclusive performance of Agila (Haring Ibon) by Joey Ayala at ang Bagong Lumad taken from the band's performance at the OPM Means Concert held early this year.

When i was in college back in the early 80s, we used to relax after major exams at a bar along España accross UST. It was called Mayrics. Famous Pilipino folk singers like Joey Ayala, Asin, Heber Bartolome were our favorite performers there. Their songs were all full of meaning relevant to society most particularly to ours, Philippines.

I remebmer when my father was still alive we went with the whole family once to his performance when Joey Ayala came to camiguin island. Hindi ko malimutan nka traditional tribal custom pa sir Ayala i felt the wisdom already at the very young age from this person. Napaiyak tuloy yung mama ko kasi idol nya si sir Ayala😊 anyway a big thanks to this person tunay na pinoy na may mensahe galing sa kalikasan ! Salute sir ipadayon ang mensahe pra sa umaabutay nga henerayson.

heard this song, i think, on or after martial law days. .it outright strikes a cord on me. .it has been so long around more than three dacades before i hear it again. .my nostalgic cravings was at long last fulfilled. . . .the poetical contents of this song staggers only those who understand and fathom its philosophical message and meanings. .most of today's millenials could hardly understand what "agila" means. .for they live a soft and pampered life. .

This is my Jam when i was 4-6 years old. I remember replaying the cassette tape all the time when listening to this. Sang this in a singing competitionn when i was in grade 1. Might make a cover of this soon.
