The second verse hit different though. I had no idea X and joey were that close. The fact that he mentioned Steelo really meant that X was also big in his life. Long live joey!
x spoke to alot of people n neva said nun bout it like erykah badu, t pain, jermaine dupri n usher, diddy, j cole, the weeknd, and prolly more. i still think about that kendrick cosign wen he dropped 17 n wonder if they ever spoke
@@biggroceriers7285 It was easily noticeable that X purpose was to touch people. He literally texted every person that was into his music even the same RU-vidrs who reacted to his music, from smallest to biggest, shared even conversations, played games with some and such as if they were regular people and not famous at all. He truly just wanted to have a mark to other people so no wonder that he just tried to connect as much people as possible and give them something unique that you will rarely get from people nowadays. And talking about Kendrick - X once did a livestream on IG and thanked publicly Kendrick and gave an impression that they talked privately also since he wished his family, kids wealth, etc. Which is wholesome.
I had the biggest smile on my face listening to this. It feels good to hear Joey spitting like this again. RIP X and Steelo. Gone but never ever forgotten
Fcuking hell yes'sir! NY always been the soul of real hip hop. Nas, Pun, Gangstarr, Joey, ATCQ, wu-tang, Mobb Deep, Rakim... etc etc and that's just a few names. Hell, The whole New Jack Swing era... Bro I feel you. 💯
Statik always making fire soulful vibes with his beats!!! super underrated! Much respect and love to Joey for making some real Hip-Hop!!!! salute ✌🏼🎤🙏🏻💎
Joey Bada$$ killing it on this track! The only reason he’s not getting more hits is because he hasn’t checked out the short on my channel that breaks down how all these rappers are blowing up so big.
[Intro] Yeah (Statik Selektah) [Verse 1] Time waits for no man, life is but a two-step slow jam Dancin' with the devil, tryin' not to lose my balance Look, God blessed the kid many talents, he was chosen It's why you see him livin' in the moment Every second, gotta own it 'Cause you never know when could be your last Time breathin', now you bleedin' from the gun blast And you thinkin' 'bout the past, see your whole life in a flash Best friends lowerin' your casket, now your son a bastard Pressure on his shoulders make 'em gotta grow faster Wherе I'm from, the stories nevеr end with no happy ever afters (Uh) Just broken families forced to start new chapters A natural disaster, the cycle, in a loop Are we caught up in a rapture? Not to mention all the other factors Government agendas against rappers They wanna see us either dead or captured [Chorus] So I hold my head high 'til they put me below Best know 'til the day I die I'ma keep my heat close This is for my niggas who took a day to relax Huggin' their block but the block ain't hug 'em back So we hold our head high 'til they put us below Best know 'til the day we die we gon' keep my heat close This is for my niggas who took a day to relax Huggin' the block but the block ain't hug us back [Verse 2] Took a trip to Miami that March (Uh) Couple weeks right before my daughter got born (Uh) To meet up with a kid by the name of X Had to go to him 'cause he was on house arrest, nonetheless Our first time meetin' we was always on the FaceTime He offered me his place to stay, "Thank you, but I decline" First impression in my mind, "Now that's a stand-up nigga Someone I could call a friend of mine and that's tough, nigga" Shit, I could talk about any type of stuff with him Never gave a fuck about who didn't fuck with him See, that's my nigga, I had to keep it a buck with him When he played me his album, I told him what he was missin' A lot of niggas woulda took that shit different, woulda thought that I was dissin' Still, we found this beat and started riffin' Shit had me reminiscin', had me thinkin' 'bout Steelo Now that I can see his vision [Chorus] So I hold my head high 'til they put me below Best know 'til the day I die I'ma keep my heat close This is for my niggas who took a day to relax Huggin' their block but the block ain't hug 'em back So we hold our head high 'til they put us below Best know 'til the day we die we gon' keep my heat close This is for my niggas who took a day to relax Huggin' the block but the block ain't hug us back
Finally new music. Let’s spread this far and wide so people know he’s back and see’s the support he deserves. Also, RIP X! So nice to see him write a verse dedicated to that young legend who influenced so many. #LLJ
