Honestly, the only new school rappers ive heard that use the old school sound is Pro Era. I think a lot of more rappers who are up and coming, might be influenced by Pro Era, if they one day decide to use the old school sound

Uninformed heads take note; the nature of hip hop is beginning to PROGRESS back to that Golden Era of hip hop; (93-2000). Young cats like this will inspire other hip hop youth to express more lyricism and creativity in their music. I'm an older cat, and I had the privilege to witness some of the illest MC's of the 90's, both mainstream and underground. I don't think they're overrated, I think people are just excited to see lyricism get a hint of the popularity that rappers with no substance such as young money and mmg has. You don't see rappers like Aesop Rock, El-P, or Killer Mike on television so when you see these dudes it's just a good feeling knowing that society knows good rappers exist.

It's because mainstream rap has been so devoid of lyricism for so long. So when someone comes into the spotlight who actually represents real hip-hop, they get a lot more attention. He brings people hope. Also, people like what they like. Liking a rapper isn't all about technical skill. It has to do with personality, style, delivery, even their voice. So just because there are a lot of people who really like him, it doesn't mean they all think he's the best rapper ever to live.
