So crazy to hear Regis’s voice come out of a young mans mouth.

I was looking for this to see Regis in action. But to my delight, at :52 seconds, sitting in the band on first row last chair is my cousin Richard Hamilton. What a nice treat. He was married to my cousin Linda Dangcil who passed a few years back. 🙏💪🇺🇸❤️✌️🖖

It’s clear to see here that Regis is the real on-camera talent here. Seems he should be the host.

I still have my neru medallion chain just like Joey's. I got it in 1967 when I was in the 7th grade. Hey he had a long life 89 years, a great ride, I always liked Joey Bishop..

Regis is great here. Handles himself beautifully, interacting very naturally with Joey. How anyone could ever have thought Regis was the problem with this show is beyond me.

I've seen this whole show on tape. It originally aired on Friday, Feb. 2, 1968, Joey's 50th birthday. They have cake (and if I remember right throw some of it).

Classic Regis Philbin story telling. Way better than Joey Bishop. You’ll be terribly missed Mr. Philbin. God Bless you. Condolences to the Philbin family.

Judging from his monolog it is no wonder Bishop's show was cancelled. At that time period no one could beat Carson in the ratings.

The Joey Bishop sitcom was pretty funny. It was on Nick-at-Nite for a while.

Not long after Joey's late night show ended, Dick Cavett began his late night run on ABC.

Since Bishop went head-to-head against Johnny Carson, this show only lasted two-and-a-half years. I believe the show was done at 8:30 P.M. PT to air live in the East at 11:30 ET/10:30 CT, in the hope that being broadcast live would give the show more excitement. Here, Regis shows some of the stuff that has since made him one of America's most-liked TV personalities. Regis Philbin was destined, even then, to become a star. Thankfully, it happened.

So, Joey Bishop's guests are Sammy Davis, Peter Lawford and Dean Martin's daughter? No wonder the show didn't last- the host ran out of friends!

On this clip, it looks like General Electric PE-250's were used (ABC, in the late 1960's, was all over the map, with some of their studios using Norelco PC-60 or 70 cameras, and others using GE PE-250 or 350's).

That must have been around 1967, Nehru. Jackets were the fashion.

Watching this now as someone who never saw it, I'd say Regis is a good talk show host. Joey Bishop is more of a guest star. I'd be bored watching Joey after a few shows myself. He is way too cool and doesn't understand how to talk to the audience.

Joey didn't own it. Regis made that show.

Back then no video games no fun.. all they did on TV was just touching each other and looking at each other.. the only fun thing was a person 🤣
