Are you aware that nsync wrote the song "dirty pop" for michael jackson (is why it has that MJ sound and feel) but when they went and pitched it too michaels agent and management they told them "no he isn't interested' without michael even knowing about it... by the time michael found out about it and had heard the demo and contacted nsync wanting the song it was too late because nsync had already recorded it

When Joey said he hadn’t been out 15-20 years I don’t believe he mean’t it 100% literally. I think he was giving an estimate and it’s both accurate and inaccurate for the simple fact that when Michael did come out it was very rare. Nothing consistent like he had done 15-20 years prior when he was performing and promoting all over the place like the way Nsync was doing during that time frame. So it was a huge deal to have home come out. I get what you’re saying though if your counting exactly to the T....yes he had been out. Love Michael Love NSYNC! They were all incredible during their respective times.

and if he appear on tv its for one thing " hello i m still here " its was for 30 anniversary madison square Guarden, he made some appear for promotion

MJ really really did not want to sing live at all at this point in his life. I'm sure the thought of singing a new verse he didnt write himself or didnt approve was not something he would tolerate. Very often he would abstain from singing, even the times he was put on the spot to do so he would try to get out of it as quickly as possible. I'm a huge MJ fan but you can see it. With Boys II Men, the we are the world 2006, the Atlantis with Stevie Wonder when they shoved the mic in front of him and he had to sing heal the world, the NAACP awards, various other times when he had excuses to not perform like in 2000. Hell, even when he had a broken foot and couldnt dance while sitting in a chair he still didnt sing Remember the Time live. For whatever reason, He just did not want to sing live anymore from the 90's on.

@@hugheggs His voice was f*cked up big time already. Maybe he knew that his voice was in no shape to handle live performing like it used to, being next to N'sync doing it all perfectly doesn't wouldn't help too. Michael was a phenomenal singer and dancer untill his early twenties, he gave us earth shattering performances on his prime. But the constant live singing and touring since childhood surely made some damage there. If you compare Destiny tour with Bad tour singing, you'll notice the vocal injuries really showing

@@megas9000 He was perfectly fine the first leg of the Bad tour. Especially in Japan. then sometime during his second leg he wore himself out. but during his US shows he actually recovered well, but still incorporated some playback/lipsync. when you listen to some of his US shows towards the end of the tour he sounds really good. His rehearsals for Dangerous tour sound fantastic, but I think it was just all of it together, the Dancing and singing and not having the stamina like he had when younger. Also, his studio engineers talk about the incident he had singing keep the faith. His voice broke during recording of its original key. He had an emotional meltdown and had to record the song in a lower key. From my understanding based on talking to those who worked with him, that really killed his confidence and he did not want that to happen during a show.

@@hugheggs And it's understandable if he didn't want to sing after the late 90s or so. When people say MJ they think of the 80s, Thriller MJ and completely forget the MJ before Thriller. He sang and danced tf out from the age of 5 with rare breaks until the Bad era. He had nothing left to prove. He reached that level of stardom and impact that people would still pay just to see him sit on a chair and watch him breathe and smile. Lol

I went to school the next day and that's all anyone talked about. I was a huge Mike fan but no one had really seen him since 98 and it gave people time to miss him and new fans time to see what he was all about. people who never even paid attention after bad were coming up to me and talking about "did you see your boy Michael with NSYNC" of the management would've been smarter they would've jumped on it, but they were sick in 80s mode

Disagree to the extent. From what Joey said, it seems like NSYNC and MJ both agree on MJ having a verse, but MJ’s team did not want MJ to sing because his upcoming tour that NSYNC was going to help. So, it’s like breaking a promise. Did *NSYNC need MJ? No. At the time, No Strings Attached sold over a million CD’s when it first came out, and they’re riding that wave. Their performance was great and did not know MJ was going to come out and dance. “Know your power” can be translated into “Keep your promise.” It’s a respect thing at the end of the day. You don’t want your colleagues breaking a promise when you said you would do something in return. Joey’s reaction is understandable.

In reality it was 2 years since his last performance, 4 since his last tour, and 6 since his last awards show performance. His math is way off even if we are being generous.

True Moonwalker also Joey didn't mention wade here. It was wades idea to bring back Michael cuz he choreographed the nsync performance. It was all Wade's idea to bring back MJ and he also told Michael to cut his hair short and he groomed him. Joey said it on the talk interview. It was all Wade's idea. The last time he was on stage yes... but all michael pretty much did was "hey im still here how ya doing" and thats it... michael hadnt really performed in like 15yrs he just made "appearances" without really doing anything

I thought it was rlly cool how generations of music collided during that time. Its awesome to see Michael adapt to the new music landscape and almost blend with the music at that time.

I agree with you that whole *NSYNC and Britney Spears collaboration was a concoction of Wade Michael did not respect Britney Spears as an artist and he only liked Justin Timberlake so that whole thing was because of Wade I’m pretty sure....
