Jogendranath Mandal. Why he is not Mahapran (great soul)
Jogendranath Mandal became the first law minister of Pakistan as a Dalit leader. After the partition of the country, widespread communal riots were organized. He realized that his decision was wrong. He fled to India. And sent his resignation letter to the Prime Minister of Pakistan Liaquat Ali Khan. Jogendranath Mandal's resignation letter is an important historical document. He was instrumental in the partition of India and the creation of Pakistan.
Jogendranath Mandal had become a puppet in Jinnah's hands for the ministry. Without his help, the creation of Pakistan would not have been easy for the Muslim League.
When the partition of India and the creation of Pakistan was assured, then when the Muslim majority Bengal was on the verge of becoming part of Pakistan, Bengal was divided through the efforts of Shyamaprasad Mukherjee.
In this way the state of West Bengal, the homeland of the Hindus, was created.
Although Jogendranath Mandal finally realized that Dalit Muslim unity is illusory. Leaders who are currently politicizing Dalits and natives do not accept that fact.
Jogendranath Mandal had utterly destroyed the Namashudra community of East Bengal by urging them to stay in Pakistan. He paid for the mistake in his lifetime. He never again stood his ground in politics. He was present on the stage of Kolkata Maidan at the public meeting of Direct Action Day. This led to the beginning of the Great Calcutta Killing, followed by the Noakhali riots. He had to suffer the curse of the dead man in the genocide.
