MKT BRA!
Incredible work, I hope to reach that level of competency someday. The video was very interesting because it shows the moves as well as the results....if it was HD it would have been the icing on the cake. Very good framing, zooms, steadiness, everything was perfect. Kudos and thanks for a great clip!
What? You are really Johan Sandklef??? If you are Johan... i am very happy of speack with you! Because johan sandklef is my absolute favourite steadicam operator!
very nice work, i appreciate the zoom control that you are using with the moves adds a nice dynamic feel, which isn't always that easy and its not all that standard, fast circular moves to a lock off thats good shit
The clips where the stedicam operator is visable is shooted at the rehersals and the tv-footage is shooted the day after at the tv-broadcast. Thats why some minor details in the video are diffrent :-)
Kul video disneyn.
Yes we use a remote focus unit, and the focus operator has a monitor and a clear view of me, but it´s only on this 6 shows of the swedish grand prix, that we use it. And this year I will probably have it in Belgrade for the eurovision song contest, I hope
Thanks Julian, I´m happy you can feel it, I´m always trying to let the music give me the right mood, But it´s terrible that your directors feel that way, here in sweden we have alot to say about the stage and ramps to get on stage and we usually can move around things to get us happy pappy. we also are in close with the stars and can tell them how they should move around on stage to get the best picture and stufff, so I hope your directors get the insight of that too soon. best regards johan
Great clip and excellent Steadicam work. It's great to see the moves first before the on-air result. Love the fast moves around the scaffolding. Were the actual moves rehearsed or were they mainly improvised?
Tack Johan!
Thanks, they were rehearsed, but on the rehearsals I can come up with own ideas wich is about fifiy fifty, the director has an idea for the moves and then I can work on that and improvise during the rehearsal but on the broadcast I have camera cards so I know exactly when and what I do in each song in this music show.
Thanks for the comments, yeah Erik I will do it at send it to you, probably next week. Thanks again and let me explain to EV0L8 that of course there is alot of good moves everywhere out there because there are very many proffessionals out here, what you don´t understand is that they have put alot of training and sweat to come there, you should appreciate that, everyone that had tried a steadicam knows that so I guess you havn´t.
It is all great work, but the lock offs are amazing! I've been operating for years and I still can not get that solid, especially at an angle and that fast.
So do they use a remote focus unit like a bartech or similar, or do they just use the lenses own servodrive which is built into the lens grip and just operate it remotely?
Hi Johan, I was on a steadicam job today and we were watching this video for last minuet tips :-D My problem is I gripping the gimbal. I have to hold it tight to tilt down for the first part of the shot but when i return to level i forget to loosen off and I end up gripping it really really tight... Oh well, practice makes perfect.
Q1: I have more but yet not edited. I hope to add some more clips later.. Q2: Correct the shots where you can se Johan operating is shot on the rehersals for the show and the acutal tv-footage is from the evning after where the real broadcast was transmitted. Thanks for your kind comment :-)
@Phaero Yes I know I´m pretty average, but I was at the Eurovision in Russia 2009 as well, and eurovision 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008 so I guess I´m ok at least.
nice work... footage looks well. im jus starting out as a cameraman...do a search for "irish base jump" its something i worked on (cant take the credit though i was'nt behind the camera on this one)
Mark Pentler: Although, now that i think of it, Johan would be 'Focusing' Himself. Because if He had a 'Focus Puller' with Him, He would be right there behind Johan whilst He's Operating the Steadicam.
Since EV0L8, wrote in swedish I guess he is from here and I know everybody in sweden that have tried steadi or been cool about it, so my conclussion is that you are a fake mister EV0L8, probably very fake beacause ??? By the way, why are you using a name like that? If you´re such a cam guy you should be fantasik
