Currently listening to this and such a good discussion. Regarding the Lamborghini and whether to get one. The question is why? Why do you need one? Or are you car fanatic and wanted one since you were small. So if you get one, you got to use it properly and not keep it in a garage for the occasional drive and for taking pictures 👍 Another option is hire one and see if you love it for the right reasons

Thank you for this. Johann Hari is a phenomenon. I am a recovering heroin addict aged 54, spent more than three decades in active addiction and attempted to get clean countless times including 18 months in long-term rehab - when I watched his TED talk about addiction and connection it was an epiphany. Made more sense than anything I’d ever heard. Found a psychotherapist who turned me on to ‘Lost Connections’ and it - quite literally- changed my life.

Hello Steven. I only found your channel and podcast a week ago and this has been a complete game changer. I have worked my way through 15 episodes so far. You are so generous with your line of questioning, subject matter, and your guests. Johann has personally really touched a chord with me and I find his authenticity, way of seeing the world, and his vulnerability so beautiful. I just wanted to say thank you so much for helping me understand my World more clearly. I find myself at this point in my life to be bereft of any meaningful connections especially with other men. Your work is really helping me more than you realise. Thank you. You and Johann are incredible leaders and teachers.

@Steven I work from home and love it - it's not that I don't want to be part of a community at work. I want to be part of my children's lives. Working from Home means, I can be a positive influence on my kids. WFH means being part of my family and not putting work first. WFH means I am part of my local community; I actually know my neighbours and I get to meet my kid's friends. When you are in your 40's have children, a wife and you don't want your kids hooked on Instagram, you need to work from home.

In my last two office jobs I was told off for talking and told this is not a social club it’s your job. I don’t think a CEO actually understands what the worker feels like. All my friends are from outside the office like clubs and martial arts etc. one fits all does not work in my opinion.

Not "mansplaining" but humansplaining. Really no need to put yourself down there thank you very much says this human who is named "woman'. Wonderful insights, fantastic positivity, captivating, emotionally brave, clarity-giving, honest words and stories. 🙏🙏🙏The only thing I didn't agree with was Johann stating that we need to "fight" for changes... I think we need to Love for changes. But I know 'fight' is just a turn of phrase, and used by many positive people and causes. Plus, Johann had literally only just said that we move forward with "love and compassion". I'll be looking out for more from this awareness-giving charismatic being.🥰😃🙏

Want to say first that I absolutely love this podcast and I've been listening to it for months now. That said, this older video was served up to me this morning and unfortunately I'm happy that I didn't see it as my introduction to this channel. You cannot apply your values to everyone else. Not everyone uses their workplace as a means for social connection. Working from home is not an impediment to social connection. People have families at home, children, friends, community groups and places of faith and worship... etc. As a young man who owns his own company, this may be YOUR ONLY source of community, but please do not apply that's the rest of us. A lot of us have enjoyed the ability to continue to have community and flex around work at the same time, which has been the enhancement and and work-life balance that we've been seeking. I'm not saying your view is wrong for YOU, I'm saying your view does not apply to everyone else. And I'm shocked to see you making such absolute statements, bc you have been extremely insightful in your questions and comments on other interviews. For those who want to have social connection, they should have the agency to find it, they shouldn't be overly reliant on work to provide that. Just like families shouldn't be overly reliant upon schools to teach their children morals or values. These public spaces can compliment what goes on at home, but they shouldn't be the only source, because you can lose a job, you can move and change schools, and what happens to those relationships then? C19 has shown the mental weakness and lack of emotional fortitude of many and shockingly so...

This is such a mind-blowing discussion and interview I regularly listen to.. Helps me when I'm stuck in my own bs, so that I can get back on with important things. Fascinated by the points of benefits of psychedelics to whole health. A caveat though, is that coming out of Cape Town South Africa, there is a significant challenge with narcotic usage amongst adolescents. A massive percentage of our youth are impoverished, and live in neighbourhoods lacking favorable resources for positive developments. Hence illicit narcotics in high supply, amidst dangerous circumstances.

There is only 2 responses I have had with Depression: Neglect and Force. People don't care about other people that do not side kick to their story. We are all the Heros of our own Story. The center of the Universe. Anyone that does not support our internal narrative are not part of it. So those with 'mental health issues' rarely do well, unless its a 'Pitty Party'. Then there is Force. When things become dire and there is a risk of physical harm, even if its only a threat, the might of our 'Armed Forces' takes over. They use the power of their Physical Power, the ability to completely overwhelm and control you as a tool. And when the dust settles. Nothing. There is no follow up. Even if there was a risk of physical harm, the follow up does not come in and aid. Instead, your left with a bad taste in your mouth about everything.

I know this video is old but I wanted to share another side of the work-at-home time we experienced during Covid. The view shared here is true, but only one side of the story. So what do I mean? Well for the everyday average person it was great! No commute, you get off work you are already home! What! AMAZING .. It Saves Gas time Energy... More time for Family OMG Working from home is amazing for the employee. Employers are just scared of losing the foot on their worker's neck. The views here are not wrong but it only applies to some and so my viewpoint is the other side of the same coin. Workers can be just as productive at home without the hour commute, cost of gas, eating out, etc. Wanting your employees in the office when it can be done at home is just keeping the "old" antiquated oppressive idea that you are buying the workers instead of just buying their production/ work.
