I_ Recitativo per Tenore "Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht". Basso Continuo:
Schweigt stille, plaudert nicht
Und höret, was itzund geschicht:
Da kömmt Herr Schlendrian
Mit seiner Tochter Liesgen her,
Er brummt ja wie ein Zeidelbär;
Hört selber, was sie ihm getan!
II_ Aria per Basso "Hat man nicht mit seinen Kindern". Violino uno e due, Viola e Basso Continuo:
Hat man nicht mit seinen Kindern
Hunderttausend Hudelei!
Was ich immer alle Tage
Meiner Tochter Liesgen sage,
Gehet ohne Frucht vorbei.
III_ Recitativo per Basso e Soprano "Du böses Kind, du loses Mädchen". Basso Continuo:
Basso:
Du böses Kind, du loses Mädchen,
Ach! wenn erlang ich meinen Zweck:
Tu mir den Coffee weg!
Sopran
Flauto traverso e Basso Continuo:
Ei! wie schmeckt der Coffee süße,
Lieblicher als tausend Küsse,
Milder als Muskatenwein.
Coffee, Coffee muss ich haben,
Und wenn jemand mich will laben,
Ach, so schenkt mir Coffee ein!

How can somebody not like Emma Kirkby? Especially in this role, she is a perfect Liesgen, innocent and sweet (although Liesgen is not as innocent as she pretends to be...)

@shariotoflove But Bach had to compose what was essentially a one act opera (cantata) every week for his church. He also wrote dozens of secular cantatas like this, many of which have been lost. This cantata was quite lighthearted and was designed to be performed in the local cofee house. It is still clever the way it portrays a frustrated father and a daughter who can wrap him round her little finger. I don't know how anyone would dare limit what Bach might do with his music if he'd wanted to.

Bach as I've read didn't write any operas, but damned if this doesn't come close.

Bach was too grand for Operas, this is about as satirical his music could get.
