Nice flying and awesome video! I have watched you guys harvest beans before up there in 2012 while visiting the area. Very neat crew to watch. What row spacing do you guys plant beans on? Also, when does kidney bean harvest start for you all? Thanks!

Thanks! We plant our beans on 30" rows and start harvest late August.

What kind of bean do you plant? How far apart in the row? How do you open a field? Good looking soil.

I'm in the UK and have never seen this before and have several questions - I hope you don't mind. - 1. Do you need top quality soil to grow them in or are you just very lucky where you are situated, - 2. What is an average yield per acre, - 3. I don't know the size of the field you were working on but how long does it take from the first cut to getting them to the farm or where ever they end up. - 4. On the lighter side I see the tractors all run on GPS, at that speed how do you stop the drivers from going to sleep, - lol, and on that note thank-you for your patience in reading my (stupid?) questions from an ignorant Brit.

I'm really interested in the technology used here too. We yield ~ 3 Metric Tones per hectare in Romania.

I dislike kidney beans, my wife still cooks with them, regardless. It is good to be master of your own home. Thanks again John.

I don't understand your 30" rows comment when there are such gaps here .

JAMES Rivis they first go thru with a draper type swather and deposit into rows. Usually dry beans are rather shorter and some types are not dry from top to bottom of plant. They allow to dry in the windrow and use pickup heads on combines. If you were to direct cut, there would be larger losses since the plant is short and variable moisture contents. I've been on one crew that used pickups with spring wheat. I do remember them going only as fast as the machine would pickup.

You should be more careful with such a good soil if you wan to pass that on to the next generation, and you should work on how to fill a truck 100%.
