Above Reproach Ministry: This is Episode 6 in our bible study series on the gospel of John. In this sermon teaching on John 3:1-21, we look at what it means that God gave His Son. John 3:16 is the most famous verse and its much deeper than I was taught. We need to understand the Exodus, the Bronze Serpent story, and the story of Abraham and Isaac if we really want to know what Jesus means in this passage.

Thank you. I am reading John for the first time and your breakdown was a blessing. Having come from a reformed tradition I was happy to hear your thoughts and understanding. I love the way you teach. I made many of these connections on my own but you brought more to my attention. I prefer a view of this scripture that encompasses ALL. Looking forward to the rest of John 3. 💙

31:30 Another interesting thing to note in this story is the similarities between Isaac entering the place of sacrifice with a donkey, and Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey to the place of sacrifice. Given how similar this story is with Christ and how the father sacrifices the son… it wouldn’t surprise me if Jesus was actually sacrificed on the exact same place as Abraham was about to sacrifice Isaac. Very interesting…

I am impressed by your discernment. I love the way you break things down by comparing scripture with scripture. Chapters and verses are like witnesses. Two or more corroborating each other and the truth is established. I will be starting my own bible study on RU-vid soon. Abraham sacrificed the ram because he had told Issac God will provide the sheep. If he hadnt sacrificed the ram I'm pretty sure Issac wouldve freaked out more fully realizing he was "God's lamb" in that moment and start thinking his Dad lied about doing an offering that day. As well as Sarah wouldve expected that they went to offer a sheep and they would be lying if they hadnt.

Please forgive me if this is incorrect regarding the timing of things (I’m a very new Christian) but was Abraham still Abram when Isaac was conceived? Or was he Abraham? if he was Abraham would Isaac technically be his “only” son, since he was someone else, Abram, when Ishmael was conceived?

But I don't understand why everyone keep saying the 4th kingdom is Rome, as I interpret it, it's the Islamic kingdom, because that makes geographically sense and also that it is supposed to be different from the other 3, the other 3 had monarchy and Islamic is a theological kingdom.. I don't understand the reasons would it should be Rome? I have enjoyed listening to the wisdom of my mature Christian brother. Not to split hairs… You get very close to tying together the true meaning of John 3:16, which is the most known, but also the most misunderstood verse in the Bible for Christians. It has to do with the word, “so”, as in “God ‘so’ loved the world”. Let scripture interpret scripture. John 3:14 states, “Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, SO (my emphasis) must the son of man be lifted up.” In this case, the word “so” means, “in the same way”. This phrase, used in context with John 3:16 (two verses later) could then be read as “ For God in the same way loved the world…”. Bottom line- People misinterpret John 3:16 to say that in this verse God is demonstrating HOW MUCH He loves the world, but it really speaks to God’s METHODOLOGY for saving the world. We are to look upon and trust Jesus, who became sin for us on a wooden cross, just as the ancient Israelites had to look upon the brass (symbolic of sin) serpent on a wooden pole to save them. You do mention looking upon the brass serpent at minute 27 and 30, but then refer to how much he loves the world in John 3:16 at the end of your teaching. So why is this important? Many people think that God loved the world SO MUCH that he could never send anyone to hell. Yes, God is love, but God also hates, and we are to righteously (not hypocritically or condescendingly) hate the things that God hates. For instance, God at times abandons sinners to their sin and stops calling them. I’ll stop there and reiterate that I really enjoy listening to you, brother. Blessings!

@@AboveReproachMinistry Hi Jason, I am 70 years and blown away with your ability to allow metaphorical and supporting scripture to enable understanding. We may be now in a space to humbly accept that yes, our body dies, each and everyone of us. Until we metaphorically allow it to die as flesh under a curse and perform that allegory in a physical way ... we each are baptized by water (the abyss) and at that moment our Spirit is under a guarantee to revive, restore, renew, be born again ... we have reached the high ground where the Dove carries the olive twig of Peace in it's beak. Many Christians are resisting death of the flesh The promises of Resurrection of the 'Dry Bones of Israel' are superseded by the the Resurrection of the Son and 'IN Whom' we are too resurrected with Him. In ADDITION we, by a New Covenant agree to actually WEAR HIS DNA when at the end of the Ages it is time for all life that yearns for immortality receives that crowning Glory. Because we get to be 'One with the Son' in the fullness of His FORM. Praises to the Father, back into His nest!

Hebrews 11:17-19 ESV By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son, [18] of whom it was said, "Through Isaac shall your offspring be named." [19] He considered that God was able even to raise him from the dead, from which, figuratively speaking, he did receive him back. Abraham had a personal relationship with God. Abraham trusted him. You’re painting the wrong picture of God here.

I don't think God died for all of humanity ...he died for the ones God choose out of the world. Before the foundation of the earth was created. Note: his only son (Abraham son Isaac ) was created from believing/faith not considered is the other son by law (no faith-)

I know you don’t understand how all the modern versions are corrupted. Please get a Cambridge text AV KJV. It’s NOT one and only Son. It’s Begotten Son. I have a one and only son but not a Begotten Son. Jesus Christ is not a created being. Please do your homework on what you’re using because they’re not the same Greek and Hebrew texts. Totally different. See Psalm 12:6,7 . Many missing words and takes away from the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. We had the Av 1611 for over 400 years. I have a first edition printed copy. God warns about adding or taking away from His words. Please do your research because I know you just think they’re all the same and they’re not.
