John is very amazing soloist and he also understands not all people like to listen to blistering fast note on guitar. So he chooses to play simple and good sounding riff. He and audience are happy. He knows when to show off skill and when to just enjoy music.
Johns band is called John 5 and the creatures. Thats what this gig is, with his medley at the end. Playing for Zombie pays for his house and kiss memorabilia 😄 touring with the creatures is just for laughs and new guitars 😄
In the day and age of the non-guitar heros, this guy really could bring it all back. Not only with his skills and talent, but his sound and tone. He can do anything and sound like anyone and play anything note for note. It doesnt matter how he looks or what band he plays for, I am a true fan. Gotta love this guy. I saw him play Take Your Whisky Home, which I never saw live from Van Halen and he played it flawlessly.
I know right? especially when he played Thunder Kiss/ White Zombie and Beautiful People /Marilyn Manson he sounded just like them..... in fact if I closed my eyes I couldn't tell the difference between him and the real deal

John 5 can probably play anything you ask him to. If I’m not mistaken, he used to be a studio musician and those “hired guns” can play pretty much anything on demand. One of my best friends used to be one in N.Y. and he was like that. John 5 is an incredibly talented guitarist.
I've heard of John 5 in the past...NOW I've really heard John 5! Amazing guitarist! He picked some solid guitar riffs for this montage! Edited: and may I add...this 3 piece band is freaking amazing as well.
I went and saw John 5 and the Creatures a few weeks ago. Phenomenal Guitarist and flawless playing! The bonus after the show...got to meet John 5 and talk to him for a few minutes....great guy, very humble!
Me: Watches this video. My Telecaster: Getting scared in the corner as I wonder how to do that laser mod for no reason whatsoever since I don't play live.
Guys like Buckethead and John 5 have ushered in a new era of the Guitar Hero. I love the fact that he's turning younger people onto Classic Rock riffs. I'm glad he has this great career.
I really appreciate his concept.... The way he conncet riff .....every son he include here is massive hits and easy listening kinda songs... Very cleverly arrange...
Saw him in Toronto several years ago. My wife had no idea what it was about and was kinda shocked when he came out on stage. To this day she talks about what a great show it was.
I really wish he would join a band with a great songwriter like Hammett did. MM was whatever, but he deserves to be part of something so much bigger, and be seen for what he can really do.
The drummer is making them melodies sound true to the artists for sure. I don't think I heard him mess up one jam. I'm not saying the others are bad it's just that if you're having a three-piece with the drummer playing the dynamics it fits when the drummer plays them all right.
John is one of the most talented guitar players working today and is an extraordinary cover guitarist with a sense of humor. It would sure be nice if he could collaborate with a few song writers and come up with some memorable songs. That would move him to the next level.
A few years back when John 5 was all over the guitar magazines in both print and ads, I thought 'Meh, how good could this guy really be?' Boy was I surprised--his abilities, far and away, exceeded the hype, and there was a lot of hype. His Telecaster collection is mind-blowing.
To be fair, Copeland's grooves in that song are very different than the rest of the rock grooves in this medley, leaving the hole in the kick on 1, and the timing between sections was often dictated by Sting, so it's pretty tough for them to predict when to come back in. Plus they were probably drunk, and they probably clap on the 1 and 3 anyway.
Looking forward to seeing/hearing clips of him filling in for Mick Mars on the Crue tour. I love Mick, but he deserves his rest now. And John is the perfect fill-in.
I'm a new fan, the 5 has a ton of cool licks....very entertaining! Only thing I would ask of him is throw some Black Sabbath in!!! Iommi is where all the dark tones started.....I spoke too soon, the next vid had sweet leaf... awesome!!!
While I have come to really appreciate John 5's playing ability I wish video's would be uploaded showing him playing other stuff lol. Everyone seems to keep posting this same medley all the time.
