@@waxhead2632 According to Eddie, who slags every single member he kicks out in the press, no matter how loyal they were and blames them for all he took credit for in the past. Just like Sammy.
@@RoninWaffle even if your response had anything to do with the topic, I guarantee its false. I dont even listen to those guys but would bet any amount of money they dont have the range now that they had in their early 20s.
All these positive comments are a joke. "let's take over 5 minutes to set up a 3 minute long song" sorry...but I love rock and VH and all the guests, but at some point STFU and play.
@@christheghostwriter it's a purposeful misspelling of the word homie...really not much to it. If you wanna make sense of it you can ask Dave Mustane what a mega "deth" is...or Pete Willis what a "Leppard" is.
Great to see Michael Anthony back on stage with a bass in his hands and ripping out those legendary backing vocals. The whole song sounded fantastic and the lead vocals were spot on.
@@leanvanhalen they play classic Van Halen songs at all of their shows. You guys should really go check them out when they come around your towns, well worth it
I wasn't expecting that either. Cory did not "half-ass" it. He was pushing some air through his lungs there, impressive...but he usually is. They all were. It looks like a good time was had there at the Whiskey that night.
@@wyzapple I have seen some other videos of Cory doing VH and I just couldn't believe how great, not good, he was. He sounds better than Dave did in the early 90s.
Fuck yeah- that guy kills everything!! He nailed Dio with Satchel playing Rainbow in the Dark. I almost like the cover better than the original. Dude can sing anything apparently. Johnny 5 smokes too. Nice to see this line up- all true Rockstars, but with no ego. F-ing amazing. I'd love to see these guys tour. That had to be a sick show!!
Too cool.... it’s obvious that when Michael Anthony starts to sing, how VAN HALEN the song really sounds . His voice is as recognizable as Eddies guitar sound....when it comes to the originality of that band.
You are dead right and we probably wont see him in van halen again unfortunately. As much as I love Eddie I bet he is just too up himself now....sad. Long live Hagar and Anthony.
Well said! MA's back-up vocals was always a highlight of VH for me. Adds an extra dimension that's not often mentioned, but if they weren't there, it would be a great loss and a totally different sound to that band.
Dude, just listen to the early demo stuff he recorded with Stone Sour when he was 21. His range was (is) phenomenal! You can definitely tell singing for Slipknot has taken a toll on his voice
Do you realize all these guys form a chain of Rock starting in the 70's to the 80's to the 90's to the 00's up until today? Corey Taylor playing with hair band alum Fred Coury? I just find that truly awesome.
Yo!! I really just love how you can tell how much fun they were having! Music, to me, is all about the soul. And these fellas were really enjoying themselves on that stage...which makes it sound that much better!! 💯
If we don’t support and promote legends like this doing their music, WE WILL lose our rock & roll boys. Keep it alive because I can’t turn on the radio today without puking out my spleen. John 5, Michael Anthony, Fred Coury, and Corey Taylor. VH, Cinderella, and Slipknot. All legends.
to think the van halen brothers treated him like shit during his whole tenure...glad he's enjoying himself and getting recognition for being key in the band's sound.
This is a great cover by some top notch dudes. Van Halen isn't Van Halen without Michael Anthony and it's always great to see him getting the respect he deserves. Them backup vox are as excellent as they were back in the day and he is a wayyyyyyy underrated bassist. Just listen to Fair Warning and Women and Children First.
I don't care for Hagar and feel he may have had something to do with Michael Anthony removed but now Eddie is dead so let's move on. Alex Michael and Hagar do not a reunion make
Probably the best live version of that song ever! EVER! I knew Taylor was a stupidly talented vocalist but the guy can just sing anything! Not a Slipknot fan at all but I like some of his StoneSour stuff. He never disappoints with a cover. Always does the original song justice. I just have to give credit where due. One of the greatest metal voices in the last 20 years! I
Now that was a solid rendition for sure! They all nailed it..and goddamn I miss Michael Anthonys backing vocals..VH needs to get their shit together,AS USUAL.
That was a killer cover sounded excellent John 5 can't wait to see him again solo and with Rob Zombie one of the best guitar players around today love the way he shows so much respect for the older rock and metal music
I got to know Fred when he was working with Cinderella. At the time, I was teaching drums at two music stores. Told all my students I knew the band, we were doing the same circuit. Was rehearsing at the same place Cinderella was and I asked Fred for a signed pic of the band. Figured that would give the students some inspiration. The band left a day before I got there. But Fred left a pic at the counter. Still have it. About three years later, Fred was working on his engineering chops where my band was laying down tracks. He said country is gonna explode soon. I should have listened to him
Super cool, thanks for posting. I bet John liked this as much as well all did too!!! Great sound, you can EASILY see why these guys are all famous musicians. Did not expect it to be that tight or sound that spot on.
These guys get paid to make music for a living and you're surprised they sound good? I don't know if that says more about today's music industry or today's society.
@@idonteatcheetos A good amount of people get paid to do music for a living. That doesn't mean they could come up and nail VH that well, that tight, without practicing as a group. If you think that anyone who is a paid musician could come up and be that spot on then I'm not really sure what to say.
The people in these comments just now realizing how badass Corey isn't surprising. That dude is literally one of the best singers doing it still to this day. Everything he touches is gold.
This confirmed that Michael Anthony is desperately needed back in Van Halen and what a class act as a person and musician he is. The whole group sounded amazing.
I wonder if EVH himself has watched this video and , health issues notwithstanding, understands how this music is still fresh and important to fans all over the world
20 years ago, I’d have written Slipknot off as a footnote in music history. But honestly, they, especially Corey, are incredible and timeless. This just goes to show what a singer he is.
A very Happy 51st Birthday John William Lowery. July 31, 1970 Born in Grosse Pointe, MI. Perhaps the most versatile guitar play alive. He can play almost any style. Even Spanish / Flamenco on a Hello kitty guitar.. Many more John William..
I saw this show 4 days earlier in Seattle. John 5 was sick but still killed it on stage. But damn, this performance would have been a treasure to see live!
Damn, this is really good! Michael Anthony-class act all the way. I just discovered John 5 in the past year and am duly impressed. Taylor nails it too. It's nice to be reminded just how good this tune actually is.
Scary good given the phone audio etc. Mike is old enough to have fathered everyone on that stage and half the audience, and he's still rockin' out like its 1980. Love the guy, and Sammy - I very much hope they keep popping up in YT vids.
