In this clip, John Amos opens up about auditioning for Good Times and Esther Rolle knowing that he was the person to play her husband on the show during the audition. John went on to speak about his close professional relationship with Esther and the great respect he had for the late actress. To hear more, including not knowing about Jimmie Walker playing his son JJ on the show, hit the above clip.

I watched Live on ABC when they redid Good Times, Amos played Alderman Fred Davis, he looked much older than he did on this interview. He looks good for 80. John Amos is a very good actor.

Cabrini green projects got torn down years ago and when that happened all the gangs that were in there got spread out to other gang infested neighborhoods across Chicago and the murders skyrocketed

And the nerve... She isn't exactly Jet center fold material herself. Although she does have some strategically posed nudes in some famous magazine, they knew how to hide the negatives and accentuate the positives. That's the only thing that made the photos presentable. The only thing they couldn't hide was that thick neck. Can't do nudes in a turtleneck. LOL 😜🤣

John Amos came to Annapolis Maryland and did a One Man show. My brother Mike got to meet him and spend time with Mr Amos and he really enjoyed the time spent together. He still talks about it to this day.

I'm ginger white kid and in the 90s I loved watching Good Times, Family Matters, and Fresh Prince. I watched Boy Meets World and Step by Step, but there was something about the black father that projected greater strength, discipline, and respect.

What are they on about? Mr Amos played Ms Rolle’s husband, Henry on the tv show, Maude. Ms Rolle was brilliant on Maude and had become a favourite. Which is why she was given her own show and asked the producer to consider Mr Amos to play her husband again.
