A compilation of legendary commentator John Arlott's favourite cricketing moments, and not necessarily just those he commentated on himself.
Released by BBC Video
This was a tape belonging not to me but to my dad, who's a huge cricket enthusiast. We used to have several tape recordings (audio and video) of live uninterrupted cricket coverage but like almost everything else of the past we had, they got junked.

This is wonderful, simply one of the best cricket-related videos on RU-vid. The moving footage of Arlott himself - physical powers waning but memory and that inimitable voice still intact - is great stuff, while the extended highlights he has chosen showcase some of the finest cricketers and moments of what was my cricket-watching youth, as well as reminding us of the commentating prowess of the likes of Richie Benaud, Jim Laker, and (I think) Peter West . I am very grateful for this upload, thank you.

The 80s and early 90s BBC released some fantastic BBC Sport VHS not very many happy released on DVD. I have some on VHS which I've collected over the years and have now been transferring them onto DVD brilliant stuff in this title on my John Arlott cricket.

I was living in England in 1973 and feel privileged to have seen what turned out to be the last centuries of Sobers and Kanhai's marvellous careers. But the taller batsman who was Sobers' partner for most of his innings, Bernard Julien, also made a century (his first) and some of his straight-bat shots that afternooon were the equal of anything the two legends produced.

That England-Pakistan test match must go down as one of the most one sided test matches of recent (ish) years. If no rain had intervened the game would probably have been over either late 2nd day or first few overs of the third!!
