@@pure.relaxing wow that was pretty dope. The vocals definitely makes a big difference and makes the track feel more euphoric as trance should be. Why was it banned btw?

@@josevanreyes Below is John's explanation (taken from his Facebook post on 29 April 2016) Ok you can stop messaging me about Supersonic now. It's like this..... Supersonic contains a sample of a Susanavocal owned by Adrian Raz Recordings - I foolishly made the track using this sample without asking permission because I thought I had processed and disguised it to the point of it no longer being recognisable. I was wrong and so when Adrian and Raz heard it (probably from it’s debut airing on the fantastic Aly & Fila Essential mix) they immediately waved a flag and put a stop to the release - which was scheduled to come out on FSOE. And quite right too!! Throughout my childhood at school and home when I found myself facing disciplinary retributions for being involved in all manner of capers - I'd always own up, step forward and take the punishment. Seriously - if I had a pound for every time I had to bend over while my headmaster gave me six of the best….. (I’m talking about hits from a cane, or wooden ruler or shoe - not inches of his penis you complete perverts). And I'm no different today. By that I don’t mean I’m still getting thrashed regularly with a stick by school teachers - no I mean I still always own up when I’m in the wrong. So I called Adrian and Raz, apologised for stealing their sample and asked if they would please forgive my heinous crime and go one step further in granting a sample clearance in exchange for them taking 100% of the publishing revenue on the track. They said absolutely not - which is understandable. I'd pissed them off immensely and so why should they give a complete asshole thief like me permission to use this beautiful 15 second sample that you can hear looping occasionally in the background of certain sections of my track. It was my fault - so anyone that is annoyed this track won't see an official release - please direct your frustrations to me. Or better still don’t bother - I’ve just explained everything so there’s nothing more to say. I'm the prize-winning bell-end who sampled someone else's vocal thinking he could get away with it. And for that I apologise to Susana and Adrian / Raz for being so arrogant and offensive. "Put your hand up if you are the cretin that stole that sample"! "Sir - it was me Sir". "Askew, I might have known - go and wait for me in my study you wicked child". Bad John. Naughty John. Horrid John. Ps: If you’re one of the teachers that used to give me a regular hiding when I was a nipper - don’t worry I’m not calling you out - in fact quite the opposite. If john askew was Armin, Ferry, Omnia, Marlo or another well-known producer, it could be the tune of the year. But Askew is so underrated when we look to the trance scene. The track is one of the best but the artist is underrated.

It surely deserves to be, not ASOT TOTY, but from a more decent list.

For your information, i agree that popular EDM is shit, but talking about EDM means you are talking about trance as well. So you are saying trance should die.

He is absolutely not underrated by proper trancers. I mean, he is Simon Patterson's manager and both of them run VII label. #TheBoss is a fucking legend

***** NO NO NO!! i've been into early techno and trance since about 1991 and back then the term edm didn't exist it was just called dance music or rave music. The term edm was created for youngsters after well after 2000 so you can't re-name something which has had a name for many years-so edm is new shite and everyone needs know this so group all that new pop shite into edm and fuckin leave the good stuff out of that grouping. Trance is dance music or rave music because it has been for over 20 years.

To be fair. He was releasing on Vandit at the same time and played out heavily by PvD in the peak of this sound.

Hello HDC. Since you mentioned the "good ol' days" perhaps you can help. I'm trying to find a track I heard back in 2001 that was part of a session (it was the starting track)...I think it might've been part of a John Pigweed session... The track starts with rain in the background, and just gets more and more awesome with the big beats in the background, and some keyboard melodies. I know that's not the best description, but who knows....

New or old? If new, I could only name maybe 10 tracks at a push this year that have reached high levels. If old... I can write you 100 pages :D Thrillseekers - Amber is probably the best from this year, but I assume you would know that one.

No it was an Omnia track released under s107, a sublabel of Armada. Adrian wrote the lyrics and thus owned 1/3 rd of the song. So he gave his red flag because he's terribly uptight about this stuff.
