A very interesting interview and very focused on carp fishing baits and mysteries of what way a carp likes certain boilie flavours base mixes oils many years of carp fishing bait knowledge that John Baker 🎩 has learned over his lifetime I am taking him very seriously on his boilie recipes .
This was brilliant. John Baker woke me up to the amount of rubbish, we are putting into our waterways. The amount of crap in customised pop ups is frightening. Nice work john.
Love listening to John, very wise man. I've noticed that Eugenol has come up in a few podcasts, I'm unfortunately in a position where I have to euthanize one of my oldest koi. Upon researching the more humane methods than a priest, what I find highly intriguing, is that clove oil, high in eugenol, is used for anesthetic and euthanasia of fish, obviously like many things, the poison is in the dose, but I do find it extremely intriguing as to how something that has that potential, albeit at a far more diluted dose, is attracting the fish, i wonder if it is like a drug to them?
So if u Dutch bait company sells monstercrab flavour saying 'it's not the legendary Rod Hutchinson flavour and we're saying this because we can't see the difference, then they are definitely lying because it's not even possible to replicate even if you knew where it came from. All very interesting this. I only use spices but looking to add flavours this year.
Why do you think that? Throw enough of that in to a tank and you will have copper levels that exceed the safe limit. Of course we are talking extremes here, and obviously many carp eat copper enriched feeds without issue and even with some benefit. Edit- I should have been clearer on this in the episode. Sam
@@CarpChronicles Damn.... I was wrong here. Was thinking copper is more toxic but it's the other way around. Due to the solubility copper sulfate is more toxic. But as with all toxins it's the degree of exposure that matters. But how much is too much? I've been using Equivit. It has been used since '83 or something in boilies. Now it's discontinued so I'm looking for a better replacement (without any copper). Brewer's yeast tastes horrible but maybe it's partly an option. EDIT: They all contain copper.... Brewers yeast : 10-20 mg copper per kilo Alfalfa : 5-10 mg copper per kilo Spirulina : 60-100 mg copper per kilo Kelp : 3-9 mg per kilo Beef Liver Powder: 30-60 mg of copper per kilogram.
