Dan jokes about directing John in 10 years. Ironically, it was 10 years later that Dan directed “Nothing But Trouble”, his only director credit to date
@@MCO18 You know I think, after Nothing But Trouble, Dan Aykrpyd should have directed some more movies from the 1990s to the 2000s. So here is my list of movies that should have been directed: 1 The Purple Polecat (in 1992) 2 Jingle Bell Crime (in 1994) 3 The Undersea World of Fifi (commercial segments in 1995) 4 Citizen Candy (in 1996) 5 After the Fox Remake (in 1999) 6 Dr Watts Place Remake (Based on Carry on Screaming in 2001) 7 Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman's Whistle Down the Wind (in 2003) 8 Blues Jam (in 2005) Which alternate movie would you love to see if it was made? Please reply back pretty please. ♥♥♥
Most definitely. You can tell that Dan knows that John doesn’t really want to be there. They’re there to promote Neighbors, which was a very troubled production, especially for John, who often butted heads with the director. In this interview, Dan has the lion’s share of the dialogue with the interviewer. However, he knows exactly when to jump in when John isn’t quite in the mood but also knows when to lay back a bit when John wants to speak.
Thanks for uploading this. John was a fantastic comedian and a great actor. The fact he died so young is so fucking tragic. Don't do speedball (heroin and cocaine) in a bungalow kids. RIP John Belushi. 🙏
@OtisRoseBoro It's a shame John died too early because I have a Top 10 list of movies that he and Dan Aykroyd should have starred in if he didn't die too early in 1982: 1 Curse of the Pink Panther (in 1983) 2 Trading Places (in the same year) 3 Ghostbusters (in 1984) 4 Spies Like Us (in 1985) 5 Dragnet (in 1987) 6 The Great Outdoors (in 1988) 7 Who Framed Roger Rabbit (in the same year) 8 Ghostbusters 2 (in 1989) 9 Nothing But Trouble (in 1991) 10 Blues Brothers 2000 (in 1998) Which movie would you like to see John and dan in if John didn't die in 1982? Please tell me ♥♥♥Please reply back.
His career was really in the doldrums at this point, which was also affecting his personal life and addiction struggle. He probably knew Neighbors was not going to change things.
Right now Neighbors is free to watch on RU-vid so go check this “Gem” out!!! It’s one of my favorites movies!!! Of course check out the Blues Brothers and 1941 which is extremely a classic movie! 🍿 I live for this stuff! I remember when John passed I was highly upset! These two guys are legends and they still carry the flame 🔥! R.I.P. Sweet and funny John Belushi! 🙏🩷🎬🎥✌️
I find it strange and annoying how dan ackryod repeatedly cuts off john belushi in this interview. Gene shalit asks belushi a direct question and ackroyd butts in and answers it for him.
@@jerrysoh619 That could be the case. However, after going through a number of interviews with friends such as Chevy Chase and Don Novello, I got the impression that John Belushi wasn`t the type of person that would get high intravenously and was afraid of needles.
@@AckZap theres another interview with john, dan and john landis where they dan and landis have to practically answer questions for john because he's so out of it
In hindsight, I’m actually glad John’s final film was the subdued “Neighbors,” instead of a BIG, loud film with less time to stop and smell the roses (I’m not counting the final explosive scene, as I’m convinced that the studio suits demanded that such a scene be added, fearing that the film was too quiet, as the scene was totally out of character with the rest of the script). It wasn’t laugh-out-loud funny, but instead amusing and quirky, and when I watch it today, it gets better with age, as you can really see that John has range, beyond his beloved outsized characters, e.g., “Animal House,” “1941,” and “Blues Brothers.” Also great to see John and Dan’s final on-screen interactions. The scene when they argue over where the Italian joint was located on the highway still cracks me up, as it’s the kind of mundane discussion my family would have growing up in the ‘70s----in Calumet City, no less.
@@jerrysoh619 Yeah. Pretty sure it is. He did die only 3 months after this and there is a “final photo” of him looking back at the camera while in front of the door to the bungalow he passed away in. He had basically the exact same look as he did in this interview with the sports coat and shorter combed hair. The exact same outfit, really…
@@jerrysoh619 can you imagine not being able to help someone that's like your brother , I loved John's movie continental divide but people wanted him " fat " and funny .the movie is on RU-vid somewhere was looking for because actor Michael chicklis was being interviewed about playing John Belushi .I was involved with someone who was addicted he lost his whole family because he chose alcohol .
Very interesting. What do you make of it? I take it as him being very high on cocaine. After the moment you pinpointed, Belushi then leans onto his his left hand and he looks down then looks up and outwards towards the camera. Almost paranoia/processing the moment
