I kind of want to see someone make a cartoon of this just for the sheer fever dream of it, I understand that is very sacrosanct to Tolkien's legacy but I think Amazon has already done that

I'll say this about the Boorman script. At least it would keep me on the edge of my seat to see what is the next batshit crazy thing he thought up. I wouldn't be bored, and it sounds like the movie would not be overly long, either.

Anyone can write entitled!Galadriel or a volcanic eruption that doesn't disperse. But it takes a bizarre kind of talent to turn Arda on its head like this.

The "hamster wheel " is called a windlass & is a common medieval machine used in the building of all medieval castles. But can be used to lift heavy doors etc. Bolton castle near me has one that lifts the portcullis.

I thought of a quote from the D&D-themed comic _Nodwick_ that fits the Boorman script like a glove: "THAT made as much sense as a hobbit basketball team." -- Artax, "The Thirteenth Edition"

In addition to having Shadowfax plowing a field, he should have shown Aragorn planting turnips with Anduril. It would have made the same amount of sense.

I actually think having the orcs near Sam convulse while he's wearing the ring is a cool concept. The ring was designed to dominate the wills of others, so when Sam puts on the ring the orcs can sense a "new master" while at the same time still being under the sway of Sauron. It's like they were getting conflicting signals in their heads and didn't know how to process it. Or maybe I'm just giving Boorman too much credit. I also think the idea of Denethor having the crown tied to his waist could be a reminder that he is just a steward and can't wear the crown himself, but he has to always have it ready to give to the true king at a moment's notice.

My mom, who has been a huge Tolkien fan for the last 50 years (read the books to my brother & I as kids, rereads the complete works multiple times a year, is now reading them to my father who is going blind), had a Frodo Lives! button on her jean jacket back then. Not sure if she still has the pin (I know the jacket is stored away somewhere, because I wore it during the "I'm a Nineties kid but I want to be a Flower Child!" trend)

Actually the idea of having the Steward carry a crown is kind of cool. Like Steward Manardil waited with the crown for King Eärnur to come back at any moment and so they just continued carrying it waiting for the King to return. Eventually it also brings the dilemma: when do I stop just carrying it around and just put it on my head instead?

Stalactites have to hold on "tight" otherwise they'll fall. Stalagmites have to be "mighty" to hold up the roof of the cave. That's how I was taught to remember the difference by my grandmother, who taught third grade.

Whenever I see adaptations like this that stray so damn far from the source material, I have to ask what the hell was the point? Like, I've seen plenty of adaptations that I love that do, in fact, take quite a few liberties in adapting the source material (some of my go-to examples being _Snowpiercer_ and the _Bourne_ trilogy), but there comes a point where it's twisted to the point where it's almost unrecognizable as an adaptation. Like, if they had changed the names of the characters and settings, made the Ring into something else, and perhaps a few other things, I'd be surprised if anyone could guess that this was supposed to be an adaptation of anything by Tolkien. In any case, thanks for taking us on this journey, because that was quite a wild ride!! Hahaha!!

29:17 Noooooooooo why make it stop!!! Damn, they really went and introduced Éowyn out of literal nowhere, had her kill a Nazgûl only to get immediately s*xually assaulted by Merry (in the middle of the battle!) and then again by Aragorn before everyone decides she's now his queen/piece of tail??? Not gonna address that she's a fucking hero?? Or build up her character at all?? They desecrated her character every bit as aggressively as they did Galadriel! And now Merry's a s*x offender! And Aragorn's also a s*x offender ! Literally I think this script probably is what killed Tolkien, and I feel confident in that assessment because as just a devout fan of Tolkien I can feel my soul leaving my body here. Also at 30:24-"obviously" is a strange choice of words here because the way this shitshow was going, I honestly was fully expecting and bracing myself for Aragorn to marry Arwen anyway.
