I actually think that this performance is incredible. It shows a connection between the artist and fans. Something that you don't get to see very often.
nothing better than jamming to music... was in morocco ... in the back of a car with my mate.. a beat going on... and had a clapping jam sesh.. when u got that music high.. nothing beats it :))
If you ever get the chance to see these guys live, GO! I took my 3 year old to one of their live performances in the rainforest of Kuranda and the music, energy and vibe was amazing! His wife Mama Kin is equally amazing...ridiculously talented family :)
I don't think some of them realize what they are seeing. The little kids just something so real. They will never see someone of this caliber play in a setting like this.
Just to clarify - the woman and man behind Byron and John are NOT his wife and brother-in-law. His wife is Daniella, she has dark hair. Also known by her artist name 'Mama Kin'. His brother-in-law Nicky Bomba (Daniella's brother) is the drummer of the Trio, and i do not see him in this video. However, this is a great video - i really love this.
You are wrong and right. I agree the woman is not John Butler's wife. However, the man is Daniella's other brother and so Nicky Bomba's brother and John Butler's brother in law. His name is Michael Caruana and he is a pianist. He is a member of Bomba (His brother's band) and Melbourne Ska Orchestra (also directed by his brother).
If you enjoy this set, I just recently found some videos from The Lumineers titled "take away show" where they play at a bar in San Francisco, then they take it to the streets, and finally to a roof top. Same sort of good spirit, soul, whatever you'd like to call it. Truly amazing music. Check it out
This just makes him so much better of a person and musician genuinely. So much more respect for him because of this. I also happen to listen to metal music and the last show I bought tickets for the main band I went to go see didn't show b/c their van "slid off the road" (I don't buy it - last show of the tour etc). Anyway for a musician to go out of their way and still play is extremely commendable. And he is very talented technically and charismatic. KUDOS!!!!
He and the bad are amazing at signing autographs, taking pics, etc. Bumped into them at a pub after a DMB show, which they were opening, and they were awesome! Very chill guys - my wife and I actually drank the night away with Byron and his guitar tech. Hooked us up with tickets for a few additional shows from their tour, signed my guitar, etc. Again, great guys - real fan friendly, as at the end of the day, they too are just fans - fans of the music! Great footage...
life's not about what's better... than :P completely agree with you though! I listen to some really heavy shit. Lamb of God, Whitechapel, all kind of (good) metal. But John is one of my favourite artists of all time, hands down!
i went to the blues fest to see butler specificly i knew he'd be playing at a bar or something seeing as though the show was canceled .. i traveled 8 hrs and missed the show and this... but wow i will return to potentialy see this again ... thanks butler dual for the show amazing
just watched the used to get high vid from this session and Its deffinately nice to see the people interacting with the band with percussion and vise versa... awesome performance!
forgive me for no knowing of john butler sooner but, WOW!!! For me, they have captured the purest, most beautiful music i have ever heard. i love some of the angriest music out there, but these guys give me hope that the world hasn't lost sight of whats really important in life... such energy, passion, emotion... so simple, yet perfect. just what i needed in my life. thanks for making my life better
