So grateful to have interviews like this one to bring my beloved father back to life. My dad’s curiosity, passion and ability to bring forth the jewels of mind and heart of the multitudes he interviewed, continue to inspire me as a person and artist.

1984 I spent 6 weeks at his summer camp in South Salem NY we performed the HODOWN on his lawn he came outside and conducted! ! I had no idea who he was! My favorite Composer! 😍 ❤❤🙏❤️❤️

Imagine going to Paris to study music and hearing the geniuses of the day.....much like going to Paris to learn how to paint while Picasso, and others, were there.....my oh my.

The host describes the Brooklyn neighborhood where Copland grew up as a “middle class neighborhood of ethnic variety” including Italians, Irish and blacks. Somehow he failed to mention Jews. Copland’s original family name was Kaplan.

Yes, the interviewer's name is Callaway- presumably Irish Catholic- no excuse for that oversight or bias though

I was fascinated by the interview, nevertheless, as had heard Appalachian Spring on my way home from work today (for the 'umpteenth' time) and the melodies are so stirring that I finally got around to discovering the man who composed them, inspired by genius..
