Big Trouble in Little China is my favorite action comedy of all time. Just fantastic, still today.

Big Trouble In Little China is one of my very favourite movies of all time. James Hong & Carter Wong were the real stars of the movie. Of course Kurt Russell & Kim Cattrall were great too.

damn I miss the 1980s in 1990s I almost work to the John Carpenter in the new Halloween franchise. I was so close to being in the second and third film. I flew back and forth to Wilmington North Carolina but at the end of the day I didn’t get the part but it was an honor to audition for them. I’m not gonna lie I think about it every day. PS I love how he just smoking a cigarette, like it’s nothing.

This is standard procedure for tv talk shows and such. The host always does these weird close-ups with no guests or people around.
@emsolis
@emsolis 2 года назад
haha yes, they have to do these close up/angles on the interviewer, to have coverage of her asking the question, just in case they need to cut to her.

It's how you film a conversation with only one camera. An alternative is to film both people in a wider "2-shot," but making one face fill the screen is preferred. I like that it was included here. I've also seen it done in the opposite order to give the subject time to prepare answers, but that seems even less authentic than having hosts rephrase questions.

What a beastly, racist, passive aggressive hag. Disgusting individual. The video is hilarious though, and John handled it with such class. He is such a magical and insightful director. Miss your movies, John, but will forever re-watch your work on my TV as well as in my heart. You shook the pillars of heaven, my friend.

the questions were previously agreed (the proof is that in the replies at the end, she also recited "but it can hurt the film", so even J.'s answers were prepared beforehand): with this interview he wanted to clarify once and for all the imbecile accusations of "racist stereotype"

"unsophistication and innocence" - no idea what you watched but, that is a gross gross generalization
@kaguth

Yeah, I think he was talking about kung fu movies back in the early 80s and 1970s which did have a sort of innocence to them. They were working with massively lower budgets but made up for it with heart. He did say they had a beauty.

He might’ve meant lack of pretentiousness. JC despises pretension in movies. He feels that movies primary goal should be to entertain.

@@DoctorBatmanMD agree! Lack of pretension and plenty of heart 💜he talks about loving those movies and not wanting to rip them off or stereotype but celebrate, esp the choreography.

@@DirkKingstonActor I think Big China is only 'okay' and I don't like it but it's not a 'bad movie' They Live and The Thing are his best by far

@@zerpblerd5966 Production design was fantastic on BTILC. Not to mention it had everything--likeable characters, story, comedy, romance, action, magic, monsters... you name it. There wasn't anything else like it and there hasn't been since; it's utterly unique. The closest thing is maybe Kill Bill, but unlike Kill Bill, BTILC had a distinct look and feel all its own. They Live and The Thing are also good--especially The Thing--a horror classic. They Live was good conceptually, but it suffers from a low budget--or looks it. It feels like a short story expanded to a movie.

@@DirkKingstonActor watch more movies Big Trouble has poor writing, a tedious plot (hey, I love Kurt Russell), and isn't at all unique, you just haven't seen what it has ripped from - check out what are called "Shaw Brothers" Hong Kong martial arts-fantasy movies from the late 60s-through the early 80s try Bloody Parrot
