I sort of can. Take away Matt Ryan's iconic performance and the show was rather average at best. Also a Friday night slot on NBC? It was asking for cancelation way in advance...
Very on brand for his character tho. Words don't mean jack for John, his brand of magick works by making his opponent believes he can work it. Breathing lies to reality. It's all about the scam.
The actor who played Sara and Laurel' father was the main character of the Dresden Files and he played a warlock detective himself. Probably wished he could so some spells himself and get back I to the game lol

If it’s one thing I can enjoy him doing, it’s the pronunciation of the spells. It’s not “whitewashed”. Like in Spanish class when everyone says “Hola” like “oh-law”

I love to think that this version of John Constantine is just The Doctor is he was an exorcist with the powers of Doctor Strange, which makes it better!!

Keanu isn't really Constantine, he just has the same name and does magic. It's sort of like how the Joker in the Joker movie pretty much just shares the moniker and is crazy. That's where it begins and ends
Can we all just agree that Matt Ryan IS John Constantine. Because of him I got heavily invested in the character read his whole new 52 run, justice league dark, sandman universe: Hellblazer and the beginning of Hellblazers 300 issue run and I always imagine him sounding like Matt. John Constantine quickly became my 2nd favorite character ever just after Batman. The Arrowverse made decent use of him but he could be so much more in a true live action show or movie without network restrictions. I know James Gunn will never use him but it would be perfect if he did. Keanu is a good elseworlds Constantine but shouldn’t be in the DCU. The next actor should really take notes from Matt’s portrayal cause that’s Constantine right there.

The one thing about this show that bugs me is the tie. I know it appears like that a lot in the comics, but come on - at some point he has to have just put it on right?

Love this Constantine but “into the light I command thee!!” As Keanu put his arm tattoos together with great effort and Gabriel is forced to appear out of nowhere. Is better than this version’s “step into the light!” Without much tattoo ritual or struggle. Seemed cooler in that version. Bu them again Keanu never throws fire so there’s levels.
Hold on. He attempted the exorcism of that girl and failed. Then he seems to have left the room. Then he tried again. And we don't see him succeed. What happened to her?
1. I know its tv, but instead of corny,cheesiness they could've gone keanu version .. instead of corny magical chants (that somehow don't seem cool like animated version . Could be more of exorcism, payers etc. 2. He may have the perfect voice for it... but Jesus that bleached hair looks bad/ not constantine like
No. I'm not going to give someone that does a hard time. But Matt as John is like the character stepped off the comic page for me. He just embodies something about the character that I can't quite describe.
anyone put any effort when hiring actors for heroes? he looks nothing like constantine, even justice league action version whos very cartoony is still cooler, this guy looks so skinny and weird just grab a bloke from the uk that drinks at a pub alot would look better p.s whats with the adobe affects effects, the sfx looks worse then what you see in the 90s
