Although I never got to see this show, I remember how it seemed that every review I read singled out this song for special praise. Glad to hear it at last. Thanks for posting.
I saw Carmelina in Wilmington before it went to Broadway. The story was negligible, I think. There seemed little for the actors to do with the characters. This song -- which I have not heard since then -- was a highlight in the modest and pleasant score. I believe it was a trio, as here, sung by three of the heroine's longtime suitors. I remember them wistfully walking to the beat with a single hand on the shoulder before them, in Peter Gennaro's choreography. Of course memory at such a distance is unreliable.
from that show about a woman who has a daughter but doesn't know which of her 3 ex lovers is the father..then they come to visit...mama mia..who can it be? ? 😆
He turned down the offer to replace Len Cariou at the end of the first year when Cariou and Lansbury left, not to create the role. He also regrets turning down that offer. And I regret that Cariou turned down the tour, as does he.
It was from an Alan Jay Lerner memorial later broadcast on PBS. Another clip from it -- Georgia Brown singing "Why Him?," one of her songs in CARMELINA, can be found on RU-vid, as well as John Cullum singing the title song from ON A CLEAR DAY.
